What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

Just freewheeling here...

How about a Bifrost-sized mono block with 200/400/800 W into 8/4/2 ohms?  At a price of up to $400 each I could replace all my amps and still come out ahead.

I think that's what the peyote is telling me....

That's some potent stuff you're smoking if you think we can get 800 W into 2 ohms with a Bifrost chassis without going into class D... heck, that's not a simple feat for class D either.

Nah, they do it all the time in car audio #don'tneedapowersupply #fakeratings

I installed and sold car audio for a while, and the only manufacturer that I had much respect for in the big box store sub/amp world was Kicker. They tested all of their amps individually and had a certificate stating the exact Watts RMS, and they were always more powerful than the box stated. I had a 750W mono amp that was certified at 906W RMS. While other companies like Sony Xplod and Pioneer would put 1500W on an amp that was maybe only 500W RMS at best, Kicker underrated every amp I've seen from them. Damn, I've come a long way since my teenage years of rattling all the windows in the neighborhood. Nowadays I just want everything to be somewhat flat and sound good.

Hey there all,

Right now just a quick report on current product frisbees I am spinning on a stick.  One is the Manhattan which is temporarily running in place as I search college campuses for a very specialized programmer.  I now know all parameters which need to be adjusted after slugging my way through a grad school textbook which has been out of print for 30 years.  A prototype of the Manhattan was concealed at the first Schiit show, which only adjusted the first of thirteen params.  The second is going in production as we speak, which should be available in January.  The third has just finished production prototyping as we speak, with a release targeted for late Feb, and the fourth also finished prototyping due in March.  I believe in my heart of hearts that they should ship sooner, but we will see how that goes.

Sorry to have been out of touch, but I was smoking tri-tips (if you are not from the western US, google them) and celebrating with various Schiitsters, while we were strategizing tactics at our show after next.  I am deliberately mum here, at least for the moment.  More will be revealed.

Thanks for the update!
Production to availability is 4 months? One of the Schiit guys said something recently about Jotenheims going into production only 9 days before the Schiit show. Why so long for production?
Am I confusing production with assembly?

I was a hotshot C programmer back in the day.  Let me know what you need in exchange for a peak

Is the Cthulhu separate from these?

Am I confusing production with assembly?

The whole process (more or less) and case by case averages thusly:

1.  Idea
2.  Schematics
3.  Circuit board
4.  Build and evaluate circuit board.
5.  Tweak 2-4 until circuit board mechanically and electronically stable.
6.  Design, verify, order proto metal.
7.  Verify product performance of proto circuit board in proto metal.  Adjust as necessary.
8.  Proto is now complete; transfer from engineering to production.   All timelines above are difficult to estimate; below are more predictable.
.
Start production:

9.  Order metal and all parts for production run.  (1 week)
10.  Wait for production quantities of circuit boards and parts to arrive.  (7-9 weeks)
11.  Assemble production parts kit for PCB assembly house (1 week)
12.  Await, test and return FA (first article) PCBs from assy house; repeat if necessary.  (1-2 weeks)
13.  Await, test, assemble, and ship final units. (2-3 weeks)

This assumes that metal also arrived in time for final assembly - frequently dangerous.

Generally, Jason and yours truly seldom comment nor hint on products in still engineering; there are exceptions, which usually begin as accidental leaks.

Finally, and regarding something completely different:  The Cthulhu has nothing to do with Jason's upcoming amplifier- they are two completely different products.

Very pleased to hear that! Also, I love your hints toward new products by the way, said the same thing in Jason's thread, it's one of the things that keeps me coming back to these forums.

Now for something completely different.  BOLO for a new vanguard of fuglytivity brought to your neighborhood by none other than Schiit Audio.  It is difficult, no impossible for me to express how repulsive the aesthetics (lack thereof) of this product are.  In true "Schiit rolls downhill" fashion, it will be users of our Magni/Modi sized products necessarily targeted.  I have dubbed it Cthulhu.   It clearly argues function trumps aesthetics by a wide margin.  It is a veritable home wrecker.  Mine will be installed covered by at least three bags, lest two break.  This visual abomination is entirely Jason's doing.  It is truly stunning.

can you give us a picture of the bag(s)
