Depends on what you like, I just had the i5 for a tour and although it sounds great its a bit overall warm for me. I like the more analytical sound like this. I have this the opus#1 and Mojo which all have a near flat sound which i prefer. Dont get wrong, the i5 is one great sounding dap especially for classical or live music and if money was never an issue I would buy it.

Yep, I also prefer flat and analytical Onkyo Over warm and smooth I5. Soundstage is better/wider on DP-X1 too.

That sounds about right when you turn off wifi on Onkyo and other Apps in the background that you don't need in android setting. My Zx2 last for about 20-24 hours on FLAC and some DSD too.

Thank you, sir. That's exactly what i did with my DP-X1, disabling almost all apps except the Onkyo Music app. And your ZX2's battery is just awesome.

I don't know what it's like for their other products but for the DP-X1 it's been non-existent.

CS reps appear to be unaware of the existence of the device.

Lol what are you serious?!?!

Certainly my experience in the UK, and I've seen similar reports from US based members.

Onkyo have never oficially acknowledged any of the problems with this device. They did however quickly withdraw the optional extended warranty that was available when the device first launched in Japan once reports of broken headphone jacks started emerging.

While I still generally enjoy the player it'll be the last Onkyo device I buy.

So do you recommend me not to buy the dpx1?

If your main use is to play stored files using the native music player app, I'd recommend it without hesitation.

If you are likely to make a lot of use of third-party music apps such as Tidal, Spotify, Apple, Google, Amazon etc. I wouldn't recommend it.

I need both and while I'm not happy with certain aspects of the DP-X1, I haven't found anything else that can meet my needs at this time.

I had high hopes for the iBasso DX200, but they went and deleted the second SD card slot so it's now ruled out on the grounds of limited storage capacity.

Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster.  I'm wondering if anybody has a solution to the problem I having.

I presently have 2 x 200GB micro SD cards mounted to my DPX1.  I'm using iSyncr to sync my device to iTunes.  With iSyncr you're required to select the storage option you want to sync to, internal, SD card 1, or SD card 2.

Because of that I'm limited to keeping my synced iTunes library under 200 GB.

Ideally I want to sync my iTunes library and utilize all of my storage at the same time.

any advice?

I use my DP-X1 with Spotify (free) every day, without any issues, and I'm currently sitting here listening to Christmas videos of "Anúna" on YouTube, also without issues.

My DP-X1 is rooted, running the Xposed Framework, with modules to block ads on YouTube & SoundCloud, allow multiple skips in Spotify (free), and allow YouTube to run in the background and when the screen is off.

Take Care,

I don't use apps or wifi or subscription based streaming services.  I plan on only using it for music and maybe photos viewing, but probably not.  Would the DPX1 be a good choice?  I need close ti 10 hours of battery and I need it to be pretty easy to use as well as being able to use 256 gb micro sd cards and have some kind of playlist support.  I currently have Shure SE846 iems, but plan on getting Audioquest Nightowl headphones and maybe an Audeze EL 8 closed and a JH13 V2 performance series iem for more neutral moods.  Will this be the player for me?  I don't have any preference on dap sound signature.  I use my headphones for that purpose.

What is strange is I am using different 3rd party players (Neutron, HibyMusic, FB2K, NEPlayer, UAPP) and even Onkyo's HF Player all of them play glitch free either from local storage or from a network source.

I only hear skips from the stock Music player but only if I set the "Lock Adjust Range" to farthest right (Narrow) and usually only after the DP-X1A has just rebooted. But then when I see this option a step or 2 below the "narrowest" option, there is totally no more skips or glitches.

All those players above have their own merits but in the end the stock music play for me is the best player for DP-X1 in terms of usabililty and design

Afterall it was designed to match the DP-X1's aesthetics.
