being on the leaner side, the ZX100 does balance off the bass heavy nature of both the XBA-A3 (vol 20/30) and Z5 (vol17/30).  for Z5 the definition of the bass and clarity of highs beats the A3 clearly.  personally, prefers the new XBA-300 over both of these

How? I got my XBA-A3 from JapaneseLady (3rd party seller on amazon) and are working fine no DOA, original sealed factory package (direct from Japan) JL is also no authorized dealer

Before shipping my XBA-H3 to the purchaser i decided to give 'wm a quick relisten against A3 and i was inmediately UGHHHH'ed by the sound of the H3.... they add some kind of reverb to every song and bass bloat hinders overall clarity even with filters removed

A3 at least for me are so lean, yes they have bass and kicks hard & deep but only when needed (my genre is classical) so i found them to be neutralish... now they made my MDR-1R sound mid-centric, hope ZX100 at least drives the 1R's a bit better if no i sell those as well and get the 1A

My experience with the Z5 hasn't really given me confidence in Sonys ability to build defect free headphones so I would prefer to go with authorized dealers in that case.  The Ex1000/MDR 7550 build quality is miles ahead. Z5 might look more premium but its a step down.

The cable in the XBA 300P looks quite thin and it looks like they might have gone with that abomination of an MMCX connector they used previously, so I am not holding my breath.

Any comparisons between this and the XBA-H3? Sold off my H3 not too long ago bcos the bass overpowered the mids too much, even with the vent mod.
