Nothing wrong with the DX90.. The ES9018 is a fantastic chipset, especially Dualled out like it is on the 90.. Makes for a more natural tone vs the livelier slightly more analytical CS4398 that is in the DX80.. I would recommend the DX90 over a Sony Dap. Especially the prices for the DX90 on Amazon vs Sony players.

Have you ever considered the Astell & Kern Jr?? It sounds fantastic, but a lot warmer, yet a lot of details, in a very cohesive sound stage. Get a Gently used one for $371 on Amazon.. Just a couple recommendations. Not sure how much space you need for your library, but it has 64g built in and a single sdcard for additional storage. Might be fitting for you. It pairs up PERFECTLY with the Fiio E12A.

As always.. Just trying to put out options that may be helpful.

Happy listening everyone. :beers:

I am very interested in the JR......I'm doing some research now

Dose anybody know how the DX80 comes apart for future battery replacement, i can't see any screws anywhere in the pictures not even any star screws on the bottom of the DX80 like you see on other music players have.

A few pages back shows how to but only for the experienced.

Basically, there are 4 rubber caps, 2 along each side which pop out which reveal 4 screws that hold the top/bottom plate on. Once removed the end plates come away from the unit. (add more here). Do not disassemble DX80 yourself (or at your own risk) because while possible it's very easy to tear a couple of ribbons which attach from the screen to the board.

Hi Paul,

When I go to Genre or Artist sections I saw the last grouping is album before I can play the tracks. For instance Genre>Pop>Artist>Album or Artist>album. This means I can only playback the last grouping as album and not all the tracks on the Artist.

If I have only 1 or 2 tracks on the different albums under the same Artist, I can only playback 1 or 2 tracks and I've change to another album to continue playing under same Artist. This is indeed tedious. Why not group the last grouping as Artist so user can continue playing all the favorite tracks under the same Artist? That save a lot of time without having to switch between the albums? Thanks

Hi Paul,

Any development on the feature to be implemented in the upcoming firmware update? Thank You

Isn't this feature already there? If you long tap to an artist, a menu popups with Play button. I never tried it myself, but it seems it does what you want: plays all the tracks of the selected artist.

Hi ,

I already have a Sony F887 and want to upgrade to this DAP . Will it be worth an upgrade ? Not an avid audiophile but would like to try out various DAPS with diff sound signature .

I was want to ask about the burn-in cable. Can i not use it at all. It says needs to be plugged into headphone socket. But i can not listen to music while it's burning in. Can it not burn-in through headphone listening? It says it needs to burn in for over 100 hours, that's 100 hours with no music for me and there is only one headphone socket. Either it will burn-in or listenned through. Maybe it can burn through headphone no? Wat's inside this burn-in cable anyway? Is something feed the music back to Ibasso DX80, if yes headphones will not work.

I have a DX80 that I am using with a Schiit Asgard (Burson HA-160 in the mail) I mainly use my alpha primes but occasionally (to the annoyance of my cubical neighbors) use my Hifiman HE-560. The sound is slightly (may be in my head) better going through the DX80 .  to the Asgard than just playing through the DX80 with no amp. I am hoping even better through the HA-160. Would an external dac (In the $500 range)  be a benefit, or should I continue to use my DAP? I cannot use the computer as my music is all flac and Media Player does not support it without codecs, which got a huge laugh out of my network guy when I asked him why I could not get the codecs downloaded.
