JH Audio's continued collaboration with A&K: Introducing Layla & Angie

Besides objectivity there such a thing as being satisfied, or content, and to believe that you enjoy what you've got, not the idea of it being the best. That is something that snobs do. If you want to classify yourself as part of that group, all power to you.

But I gotta tell you, this is the wrong hobby to be in if you have the kind of personality.

You sounds like a sonic saint with absolute perceptual and behavioral correctness in arts appreciation. But unfortunately we are in a world of consumers with behaviors that merchants would like to dig into their needs and emotional needs sometimes is more important because that drives purchase behavior.

I am neutral about the JH brand and do not own a JH earphones, just have been interested in universal roxanne some months ago. But then I think a company is not wise to shake against its own foundation i.e. loyal customers and surprisingly they are doing it. It is double unwise if fans are being further lessoned to shut up because they do not know to appreciate arts.

I'll say game over.

I'm a little miffed that the Roxanne isn't the TOTL anymore..there is a certain satisfaction I think to having the top of what a company offers.  $1700 isn't anything to sneeze at either.  However, I'm not interested in spending $2500 on a universal, nor am I interested in a reference monitor from JH.  I do like the JH house sound (ie JH16), but I think I'll buy elsewhere next time..

@warrenpchi Thanks for your impressions. I'm very interested to audition the Layla now. May I ask how they compare with the K10 in overall clarity, soundstaging and imaging? Thanks in advance!

Hi Mal!  I would love to tell you, but unfortunately, I haven't had enough ear time with the K10 that I'd be comfortable making that comparison at the moment.

However, somewhere in the world, there is a K10 being soul mated to my ear molds right now.  And that should be here not too long after the Layla and Angie get here.  So hopefully, I'll be able to tell you soon.

I think you should write an email with a common signature of all the Roxanne owners who feel pissed. You can count me in.

Well, it'll be nice to let JHA know how we feel regarding this sudden introduction of a new TOTL flagship this soon after the Roxanne was introduced.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving my Roxanne, but I can't help but wonder if I would have been just as happy, if not more, with the Layla.

Thanks. Can't wait to hear your impressions! I'm waiting on a pair of K10s myself, and I wonder if the Layla is a good match for Noble's flagship. The Roxanne is a great IEM, but the K10 outclasses it in absolute clarity and detail, IMO.

I think we are the few ones here that have both JH Roxanne and Noble K10.  As for the JH Layla, I am pretty sure I will get it just for the sake of A/B tests.

I am actually terribly intrigued by the Layla (despite this Roxanne mess). And from Warren (and Mike's) initial impressions, they sound superb. Like you, I might get it just as a complement to the Roxanne and the K10. I'll wait for the custom version, though.. I just hope it's not going to be very expensive.

someone was asking about size? Yes they stick out.

2 mins in these to me are very "un-JHA" like. It's like a new house sound. That's all I'll say for now cos I don't wanna get into details with only a short listen in a festival environment.

(Still listening BTW :))

Oh trust me it will.  BTW, I guess we can partner on some impressions or reviews as I will focus on universal version of all three IEMs.

Yeah, that will be very interesting. 3 universals and 3 customs of the same products. Will be nice to see how each differs from the other when placed in a different shell.
