Introducing Lotoo PAW Gold

Looks like the Sony magnesium mini disc players that were very advanced for their time.

My main concern is while PAW Gold receives high praise the lower model PAW 5000 (I have owned) is just ok, not a bad player but not particularly living at PAW Gold's reputation status. So, my thoughts on this little Pico device are mixed.

Lotoo Paw 5000 is a very cheap capable device with lots of features hard to be seen in any other device at similar price.
Cannot be compared with Paw Gold, but still for the asking price has lots to offer.

So on the back it says HiFi music player,so can be a music player?I cannot see the USB.It may have internal memory but not micro sd support? Strange if so.

USB

My money is on it being a dac/amp for smartphones and laptops etc.

It has hw playback control buttons and there is no indication of Bluetooth/wireless.  Before seeing these pics, I thought it will be usb dac/amp, possibly wireless.  But now I see that it's definitely a little DAP, even says Hi-Fi Music player
wink.gif
It has playback control buttons and even a Loopback/Random playback switch:

But there's no micro sd card slot, you'd be mad to release a dedicated player in 2016 without one. I'm guessing the play/pause etc hardware buttons will work with Android etc. Like the older AK10 dac/amp had.

Yeah, E18 and AK10/A200p playback controls were pretty cool for usb dac/amp.  But "Hi-Fi Music Player" on the label?  And the loopback/shuffle/random switch?  It puzzles me about lack of microSD card, especially since they claim DSD support, and I have a feeling internal memory capacity might not be too high.  Again, all just a speculation...  Screenless, well so does Alien.  I guess will just have to wait for more info.  Who knows, maybe it will have digital out to drive Mojo like M1?  Wishful thinking :)

Oh, give me your pity
My ears must be sh**ty
I can't quite distinguish
5000 from Gold.

With my Grado headphones
And hi-def Norah Jones
I listen at first to
5000, then Gold.

I test the same phrases
Dear Norah, she raises
The question, "Why sounds the
5000 like Gold?"

But wait! There's a difference!
The soundstage, bass, presence
Is certainly less for
5000 than Gold!

(WHEW!!!!)
