the torture B4 buying ...and the torture after buying what u dun like is just as bitter.

what headfones do u have now? have u used before?

there is a new X2 coming out soon...with replaceable pads.
the X1's earpads are NOT replaceable, unless u rippp it off.
Philips Fidelio X2 : A Review by Baycode

the new BEATS SOLO2 is out...and getting some recognition by experts here :p
Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Solo - YouTube

Ok here is my experience with headphones i have not owned any audiophile grade headphones before only "Gaming" headsets(with mics on them) so i have had the Razer Megalodon  and the Steel Series 7H USB i have had both for 2 years and both broke on me in 2 years not because i was rough with them they both had the same problem the left ear cup would stop working and i could go into detail in how they broke but thats not important.

So now i have no headphones/headset to listen to music and stuff on my PC i have been without sound for 3 weeks now i think so i need a new pair of headphones.

My brother has the beats by dre i dont know what version but i think its the one everyone says sucks he got them like 2-3 years ago too i think and i dont think i would buy anything by beats and yes i have watched a youtube review on the Phillips 1X and they told me the ear cups are not change able.

Every other pair of headphones/headsets i have owned in the past were all ****ty 10-30$ headphones/headsets and all crap lol

http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-7h-usb

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Links to the "Gaming" headsets i have owned

So i bought an in store replacement plan at a local PC Part Store on the Razer Megalodon's and i kept them in such good condition they said they will give me in store credit instead of replacing them with the same headset so i have like 170$ to spend on anything in the store and they have a pretty good selection of sound cards

Also i could not find a release date on the Philips Fidelio X2's

  a few quick tots..reading thru the few pages..

There is the FUN sounding can, most of the time with V shaped sound signature..
eccentuated bass, recessed mids for vocals. Highs can be soaring or rolled off..depends...eg X1, Beats..

There is the Neutral or Balanced sounding can, supposed to give u unaccentuated sound across the spectrum eg hd600, Beyer DT150
http://www.amazon.ca/Beyerdynamic-DT-150-250-GREY-Monitoring-Headphone-Environments/dp/B000LDPP1K/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1408813042&sr=8-5&keywords=dt150

which  type do u think u like/ want?

======

do u need a CLOSED can or an OPEN can..? u have a quiet room to yourself..? or u need privacy?
Closed cans normally gives u more bass..in a controlled ambience. *my preference.

======

some cans are very easily powered...can sound v good off ipads...ipods..laptops...handfones. eg Yamaha MT220, my favorite.
http://www.amazon.ca/Yamaha-HPH-MT220BL-Studio-Headphones/dp/B00B44N0DA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408812907&sr=8-1&keywords=yamaha+mt220

some cans are less sensitive...wakes up to its glory only when fed with good clean power. ( more $$ needed.)  HD650/600 etc

(nontheless...it doesnt mean u cant get v good sound off the easily powered cans )

=====

If u are not adversed to buying 2nd hand headfones...just wash the pads really well n sun them..
then u can try diff cans for v little loss, sell off those u dun like..until u discover/develop your taste..
then u splurge on a "good" $$$spanking new can.
( if u are sitting on a pile of cash, by all means buy everything new..n try them all out ;P )

Well i like/want over ear headphones they must be very comfortable also i do not want a pair of headphones with a death grip clamp force so none that are uncomfortable. I think i want a more fun sounding headphone what they call " Toe tapping or head bobbing " i do not want anything by beats though has to be a respectable audiophile company. So i think i want open headphones because i do not know if closed headphones have over ear or not but i will only be using these headphones inside my house at my PC where i spend most of the day listening to music , guides on youtube of various different things and movies, tv shows.

So they also must be very comfortable because i will be wearing them basically everyday and all day i do not have a job right now so i stay inside and do nothing all day lol hence why i said its where i spend most of the day at my PC

i am not the best at describing what types of genres of music i listen to so i will try my best to name some genres. i listen to alot of electronic music

Here is a channel i listen to alot https://www.youtube.com/user/TheEnigmaTNG which is electronic music he says he composes Alternative, Industrial, EBM , Aggrotech , Rock, Metal , Dubstep , Trance , Techno , Electro , Pop, House , Classical , Orchestral , Piano , Hip hop, Ambiance so i think its safe to say i like all of this kind of music i do listen to other genres of music like rap , hip hop, vocals female vocals piano trap music chillstep chill music relaxing trance Power Metal, Lindsey Stirling type music

trying to think of other stuff i like i basically like everything that isn't scream-o "emo type" music or country and i dont listen to much classical music i do not like "growling" metal where they just scream

 alternative rock  spacerock and progressive rock.  such as electronic music, hard rock, experimental rock, classical musicrock copied and pasted this from a google search on what genre of music the muse is

well i tried my best to explain what types of music i like :)

Hi thank you for the reply its much appreciated! i was looking into the Sennheiser HD598s i like they way they look and i heard they are very comfortable, but i am not sure what genres of music they are good for i think the reviews i read online said they are good with classical and rock , would the HD598's be good for the type of music that i listed above that i listen to?

Also do you know if the Philips Fidelio X1 headphones are better than the HD598s

Ya what i will probably do is just get the Xonar Essence STX because i wont have to pay much for it since i get 170$ off on anything i want at memory express (local computer part store) hopefully that will sound good and if anyone knows if the Philips Fidelio X1 will sound good with the Xonar Essence STX sound card that would be a great help! i was looking into a review on the Philips Fidelio X1 on Headphonia.com and they said to get this one amp called The ALO Pan Am and they also said its the best amp they have heard with it so far but that is a pretty expensive amp and not sure if i would be able to get it where i live in Canada or if they ship to Canada

This isn't really a response to your question, because I don't own either of the amp/dac combos - but, if you do decide to go with the X1 just know that you can easily power it with a sansa clip, mobile phone, laptop, and probably even a stick of margarine.

I have been hearing that the Sennheisers HD650's have good bass and i was wondering if the HD650's are better than the philips fidelio x1 in the genres of music i listen to or are the philips fidelio x1's a more fun sounding headphone than the HD650 and the 650's are more analytical and more boring sound?

Can somebody tell me what the differences are between the two just wondering if the HD650s would be better?

from the reviews i have watched and what people have told me i am leaning towards buying the X1s very soon along with what ever else i need to make them sound awesome but i just wanted to know if the HD650's could be better before i spend almost 400$ on a pair of headphones any help is greatly appreciated and you guys are all extremely helpful! Thanks!
