bavinck I have same issue with the screen off. Seems like music cuts off for me a little more often with screen often. Pause play doesn't work all the time like you said. I'm so frustrated because I like the unit, it's beautiful, feels nice in my hand, but damn... So close to being perfect.

Just reset the device for one last time. Going to try using it without Viper, although I don't feel that is the issue. Stumped.

AM2 does sound a lot better to me, just FYI.

I figured it would. I really want to get this to work. It's basically what I want in a DAP. I just don't believe I can deal with songs cutting out. Sometimes once every 15 minutes, sometimes once per song or two.

Mine doesn't cut out that often unless I am downloading music at the same time.

could it be the screen or power saving settings?

i suggest u just try neutron on x7 and mojo and uninstall v4a, as neutron has a great eq, and if that does not work fine man then its decision time

i think getting v4a working in x7 is causing many issues

I used clipping as a general statement, I didn't mean clipping in that sense. Music cuts off for 5-7 seconds. When mojo is plugged in to it, it's like it loses connection, the blue input light shuts off.

Using V4A here, no issues at all. Even with third party apps. Warrior, your unit may be faulty.

White Lotus I'm starting to believe that as well. I don't know what else to think. I'm not exactly a Noob with Android, Viper4Android, rooting, etc. I know my way around pretty well...

I removed root. Right now running Neutron with mojo. No skips yet. Also, maybe, it's the SD card? I'm using a different one as well.

Trying process of elimination. Don't know what else to do. Going to try my original mini SD card again. See if it happens. If not, going to root... See what happens.

I got a chance to A/B between stock and therium today for the first time with the Fiio X7.  I got to say it was obvious to detect the improvement the therium provided, with the stock cable the music sounded heavy, treble was restrained, but with the silver cable cymbals lasted longer and sounded more natural, imaging improved as well.  For those on the fence trying to smooth out their U12, I do recommend paring it with a slightly bright source (X7) and a silver cable.  I'm rethinking my decision to sell this now.

Dear respected customers,

All the existing X-Series DAPs (except X1) can work as DAC for the computer. Each time we release a new official firmware on our website and forum, we provide the DAC drivers (v1.61.0) of the players for customers to install it on Windows computer.

However, although there is no need to install the DAC driver for iOS system users, but it is still required to disable the driver signature verification for Windows 8/10 users before the installation, while the majority users are using computers running Window 8/10 nowadays.

Therefore, in order to improve the user experience, we have made a major upgrade to this Windows DAC driver -- from the ancient v1.61.0 to the shiniest latest v3.34.0, which enables you to install the DAC driver directly without make any extra settings.

Thank Thesycon company for working with us to work out the licensing plan for their latest and greatest!

>> Click Here for the download address of the new DAC driver
>> Click Here for the corresponding instruction about the installation

With the brand new UI of the driver, this unique DAC driver can be compatible with FiiO DAPs including X3, X5, X3II, X5II and X7.  For X3, X5, X5II and X7 users, you can just uninstall the old DAC driver and install this new driver to use directly, if you’ve ever installed.  But for X3II users, please kindly update your device to FW1.6 and then install the new DAC driver.

>> Click Here for the download address of X3II FW1.6 (X3II FW1.6 or above can be well supported by the new DAC driver)

The following is the cumulative list of main changes from driver version 1.61.0 to 3.34.0 (in chronological order, newest to oldest):
* Chg: USB buffer size default changed from Safe (16ms) to Reliable (12 ms)

Note:  Rather than the FW1.44beta, the new firmware FW1.6 is upgraded based on the official FW1.4. Compared to the FW1.4, the main changes on the FW1.6 just include 2 points: 1.Be compatible with the new DAC driver and 2.Disabling the OTG function. So some new functions on the FW1.44beta are not available on FW1.6.

To me the am1 is a stunning amp. Actually, the best I´ve heard, so far. I guess, few realize the extreme delicate balance this amp is able to keep, no matter what you throw at it. Whereas most companies, which are known for their prat sound (pace, rhythm and timing), place most emphasis on pace imo, the am1 creates the perfect balance between all 3 qualities. You´re one with the music. Simply breathtaking.

I love it, Never been so good with music, you know when smile comes naturally to your face.

AM1 is for IEM´s - period!

FiiO engineered X7 and specs/usage is very well publicited - AM1 for this, AM2 for that, use this type of card, it isn't supposed to be rooted/hacked/Tweeked unless you want it to sound like a cheadp $80 DAP ... keep listening music, enjoy, no one more than us wants to make it better.

Thats basically what I am doing.

Hi All

My current setups are: FiiO X5/E12A and Fidue A83's. I have a FiiO X5ii and FiiO EX1 on order. This will give me: FiiO X5ii/E12A and Fidue A83 and FiiO X5/EX1 for trips away and the beach (I live in Jersey).

I'm toying with the idea of getting an X7 to be my main DAP and selling the X5 classic. My question is this. I have briefly looked through this thread and there seems to be a lot of issues/bugs with the X7. Can someone give me a brief list of them? As if there are too many that don't look like simple firmware issues that can be resolved, I may be better off getting a Mojo or similar (FiiO Q5?) for the X5ii?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Darren

PS. Had a Questyle QP1R, sounded great but the scroll wheel was too frustrating!
