The Astell & Kern AK240

Pay attention.... The Bluetooth range is listed in the manual as "8 inches .... Look down add 5 inches.... that's how much 8 inches is....
Even if Bluetooth had the bandwidth...it wouldn't make a lot of difference unless maybe you duct tape the AK240 to the side of your head..
Keep in mind that this is $2500 unit....

Wow.  You guys have really delicate ears.  I typically listen between 50 and 55 with my stock ie800 and stock AK240.

For balanced IE800: same here, sometimes over 60, in a relatively quiet environment on the road (hey, we are talking about a mobile device, right?). At home 40+ would do in most cases, need 50+ for classical.

In fact I have no problem with the distance using the 240 with my Bose Minilink bluetooth speaker...the distance between them is much longer than 8 inches.

For most recordings, I'm at 40-45 level and not sure how sensitive is your IE800 that required up to 60.  Be cautious on the sound level on your ear and take care.

When connected to Bluetooth headphones the sound drops out very consistently. I discovered in the manual that the Bluetooth range is only 8 inches....yeah it actually says that... The distance from my shirt pocket to the headphones is already out of range so this makes the Bluetooth feature basically useless.

Does AK240 support AptX? If not, bluetooth is by definition useless for music listening. Sound is just no good.

And all is revealed! The battery definitely looks proprietary. Your pictures have answered all the questions I've had. Was the starting point the 2 screws on the bottom of the case and what was the x acto blade used for? As already stated, you're a brave person. Thank you for the post.
