It's also depend on your prior experience with different players. I have listened to players from both ends, like the older iPods which are considered warmer to the bright ones like the iPod touch. The X5 seems to stand in between hence I like to call it neutral. It is very difficult to place it on one end of the scale or the other because of that. One thing is for sure, you have to hear it to get the player's sound feeling, I like to think that this player has a 3D sound to it, you can really feel the frequency range precisely and its depth. To running the risk of sounding one sided, it is hard to believe the sound that is coming out of the player. Once you hear it, it can only be one step forward but never backward, you definitively get spoiled, very addictive.
