I guess you have a different case from mine. Mine is actually a bit too loose. DX50 slides in and out easily. The exterior is something like black velvet and the interior sort of gray silk.
The loop to close is a plastic transparent ball attached to a black string on one side and a black knot on the other side.

I dunno what you guy are talking about cause my case is awesome I mean I can't really ask for a better case for a DAP of that size. The velvet feel to it is perfect plus you can control the music without taking it out and also teh open gap nature of the case allows cables to pass through.

Moreover it looks really nice when I place my DX 50 on top of the pouch on a surface and it makes it look so good and classy.

Its not a case, its a storage pouch. A case allows you to use all buttons and you know the screen while its attached to the player. Your pluses of the pouch are almost the same as those of my pocket (key word, almost).

Here is my super exclusive alv4426 edition dx50 case

I made it as a joke a few weeks ago, but its actually kinda useful… and all buttons, screen, cables can be used without removing the "case" . Protection is really good with it as well.

EDIT:I think pic might not pop up illl fix it later. Fixed

lol it looks like grey bubble wrapping XD
But I think I may just order a custom made case for my DX 50, if it continue it proves it's worth which it's still doing. :D

Is that the anti slip matting you put on motorbikes to sit bags on?

I have to agree with some others, the standard Velvet carry case(pouch) is fine with mine.

LOL, THAT is a custom "case".

But you are right, what comes with the DX50 is a pouch. It does its job, protects the player a little bit, mainly from scratches. But, at least for me, it is not as useful as a case would be for the reasons you mentioned.
