I wasn't a fan of the silicon tips either. They changed the sound of the W4, took away from what I consider the W4's strengths. It is a compromise, because like yourself, I really like clear and extended highs. I stopped trying to compare them to my higher end experiences because they just won't stack up, but for what paid and the value they are hard to beat.

When you compare them to your higher end experiences doesn't it just make you angry . That's what got me to sell my lower gear. Just was wasting my time.

I agree about pairing the AK120 with AMP seems to go against why I like it so much (great sound in small package).

But for me using the SE535ltd I find the bass is just too lacking to give me that real good feeling when listening to most music.   Dont get me wrong....it sounds very good but I just miss the bass!!  But from my time here I have learnt that is the Shure SE535 foot print!!

For now I have paired with my JDS Labs C5 which I had and has a bass boost on it........it may be a bigger package to carry but much prefer the sound :)

Maybe, will look to upgrade IEMS one day.....possibly try SE846!!

Nice case, and it has a snap, no magnets.  Magnets bother me due to possible corruption issues over time, always confused why they are used so often.  I may look into this one if we can get it on this side of the.....pond.

I find it kinda weird that the loophole at the bottom (presumably for a wrist sling) would hold the AK120 (and cards) upside down. I'm sure most would hold but if one were to drop it, I think the upper part of the AK120 is exposed?

Very interesting...

I hope it holds up better than the provided case. Which I have since conditioned and dyed black, but it still scratches very easily. Not exactly the best choice. It would be nice to have a more durable option.

Hello, Greed -

I'm curious: What are your "higher end experiences," and how does the 4R compare to them? As a newcomer, I'm confused. It's my understanding that the $500 4R ranks among the best IEMs on the market; can they be so significantly inferior to higher-priced options?

Thanks,
Brian
