You can't very well start an "Appreciation and impressions" thread about a product that hasn't been released! It will, like every thread about a product that isn't on sale, end up derailed! It can't be on topic! I'm going to re-name it, if you don't.

The issue isn't keeping it on topic, but keeping from making useless comments that end up causing pages of banter that end up getting threads locked. For instance:

I've read many of the posts on this thread and am waiting anxiously for the X3 to be released. It seems like the perfect replacement for my aging iRiver hp-120. All the specs seem in line and the price is definitely right!

What I like about this player is that it can play almost any music format, just like Rockbox except the 24/192.

I'm not completely sure what that is, but it sounds wifi dependent. I don't think the X3 has connectivity.

It's not WiFi dependent. For instance, Rockbox writes a file called .scrobbler.log and there are tools that reads this log (by usb) and uploads the data to your profile at Last.fm.

Hmm. I don't think that was mentioned. Maybe James could give you a more complete answer.

I just want to point out that this player is estimated to be price at $200! Not $300, not $500. These requests for some of these features that people want are just ridiculous. Basically, FiiO wants to create something that is simple yet still delivers high quality sound. Most of the DAPs on the market now, don't offer WiFi, and don't offer the capability to Rockbox etc. Asking for things to be added, to what I consider to be a gem, is just rude and is getting rather old.
