  I don't get it.

Was that or wasn't that supposed to happen?

Teach me your American motorboating ways...

lol no that was an epic fail. Guy obviously lost control of the boat. You know kinda like when you see a red light up ahead. You don't keep your foot to the floor playing chicken. :p.

Oh. I just thought that happened on the regular or something.

After all they're standing upright on a speeding boat (hence the name) rather than taking a seat on the provided seats. I thought common sense would simply be out of the boat once they were in the boat themselves.

Well there's not a whole lot of common sense in this world these days :p. Thus you are right this kinda stuff does happen on a regular basis. You know what since people are too stupid follow such a basic concept I think they should just use 4 way stops. Where everyone must come to a complete stop. The first one there gets the right of way. Then again you still have idiots who don't follow it lol.

lmao

How disappointing! You all gave up so easily!!

Before Mr. Rogers, before Sesame Street, before The Electric Company, (but not before Howdy Doody) there was Captain Kangaroo

And the cartoon? Why that is none other than Tom Terrific, with his ever-faithful (but sleepy) companion, Mighty Manfred the Wonderdog!! Tom Terrific was a very different kind of superhero from what we expect today - but he did have all the key components - he had superpowers, he fought evil (Crabby Appleton), he had a sidekick and he had strange and powerful gear (the Thinking Hat).

I give you, The Adventures of Tom Terrific!

Gosh! This thread has survived pineapples, cheese, dead terrorists and Wink - who would have guessed that it could be killed by Captain Kangaroo??

Well, too bad. I have 18 more of these sum'biatches to go, and you are just going to have to put up with them!

So, for tonight's entry, I am going to 1974 and Hanna-Barbera...

Hong Kong Phooey was voiced by someone VERY recognizable: Scatman Crothers. Hong Kong Phooey seemed like it should be a great cartoon - a funny dog who is secretly a great kung-fu crime-fighter and has a cat sidekick named "Spot". Don't forget that this was at exactly the same time that the Kung-Fu TV show (1972-75) was airing in prime-time. But I think Hanna-Barbera made a horrible mistake - Hong Kong Phooey was portrayed as a terrible crime-fighter. Spot did all the real work, and Hong Kong Phooey always took the credit. That's a pretty pitiful superhero. Hong Kong Phooey only ran for a total of 16 shows.

I remember that one quite well. The theme song is unforgettable. I have more trouble actually remembering any of the plots, though, so I'll assume they were typical early 70s H-B fare. I remember the bit about Spot, though, since that was a fundamental aspect of the show.

I also recall that the car made this weird sound, though for some reason I remembered it being red. Google seems to think it was clearly green.

Man. It's dead in here tonight. It's like somebody told a really bad joke and everybody's trying to give the poor schmuck on stage the benefit of the doubt by mulling it over in their heads to see if they missed a subtle punchline. What did the elephant say to the kangaroo? Answer: Nothing, because they don't live on the same continent. Uh...nope, there doesn't seem to be anything funny I'm missing.

C'mon guys! I can hear crickets. I once ate a live cricket. On purpose. It tasted kinda nutty and bits of it got stuck between my teeth.

There. Now we've got something to talk about. Or, we could talk about Hong Kong Phooey. I can't be the only person besides billybob who has seen that cartoon.

It's 11:20 PM where I am currently (Texas) and I have a 7 AM alarm - so I'm done for the night. Since you mentioned crickets, I'll leave you with this...

I've seem Hong Kong Phooey. I can't imagine a conversation involving him without having it end up to where I'd simply leave.

I'd see a doctor about the cricket nuts in your teeth.

We're all probably just bitter and sore that we couldn't manage to guess billybob's previous avatar. He wins the hipster contest for now but mark my words he shall have his comeuppance.
