The diary entries of a little girl in her 30s! ~ Part 2

Personally I think they shouldn't be an issue. They aren't the best out there in terms of isolation if that is what you are after. They are as open as an IEM gets. Fit is actually quite comfortable. Believe it or not I've fallen asleep with them before. They are sweet sounding IEMs :). Very romantic.

I roll around when I sleep and that sounds painful. :p

lol surprisingly jgray when I fell asleep with them in I remained on my back when I was listening to music. I was just shocked that I was able to fall asleep with them (I normally sleep on my stomach :p) as I generally would consider this type of IEM the worst candidate for it lol. :p But the point is how romantic and relaxing they can be which is what put me to sleep. Not that they are boring, because they are far from it. I'm also noting how comfortable they are to wear as they are indeed quite comfortable IMO.

I saw the Stax interview highlighted on the mobile site yesterday, otherwise I would have missed it entirely.

@currawong -- any reason why sometimes different threads are featured on the mobile and desktop versions of the site?

(The Cavalli announcement also only appeared on the mobile site. I half wonder whether Jude is shunting featured high-end posts to mobile users and mid/hi-fi to desktop users, but I suspect it's mostly coincidence.)

No idea to be honest. I don't do anything regarding the back-end of the site. That is all Huddler.

Wow, first time I've seen a double post that's hours apart. Einstein would have been proud of you.

Now I'm intrigued. Acessoryjack has them for £160. If it wasn't for my money being shifted into the TH600 fund, I would probably get a pair. I'm guessing they were a counterpart to the EX600?

What words come to your mind when you think of the MDR-7550?

Can't speak for the 7550 but the little brother of both the 7550 and the 1000, the EX600, I would describe as fast aggressive take no prisoners. The EX line as far as I'm concerned are the gladiator types of Sony's IEM line. Tangster from what I've read the 7550 is a lot like the 600 and 1000 the big difference being it's treble isn't as forward and harsh sounding as the other two. It's supposedly pretty smooth sounding up top. The EX600 is considered the poor mans version of the EX1000. Some users have said the EX1000 only brings an added 10 or 20 percent improvement over the EX600. Of coarse other peoples mileage may vary.

Truthful but polite. Revealing and accurate but relaxed.

The important thing to remember is that in Japan it's classified under Sony's ST line for studio use. It's very much a studio monitor in the best sense. It's non-fatiguing and you can listen to it for a long time in one go.

You've owned the RE262 right? I feel the 7550 as a direct upgrade to the RE262.

I did and I regret selling it.

At the time I was purely looking for a v-shaped signature. More precisely, I was looking for (that one) do-it-all IEM (that would fulfill all my wants and needs) with a v-shaped signature.

I wouldn't necessarily say that my IE80 would be my do-it-all, nor do I feel the need to fill my inventory with that one particular kind of sound. I'm sure you know what sound I'm referring to here, the doof-doof sound that makes all EDM sound wonderful, yet at the same time, also ... FX:ish. Don't get me wrong, I still do enjoy a pounding bass and so on, but I'm getting so tired of it. Everything I listen to becomes just another deja-vu (or, deja-entendu) because of that. At the moment, v-shaped signatures serves a great effect, but less great music.

I'm looking for something new, something that doesn't sound the same as everything else I have. The RE-262 did that for me, however, I'm not sure I was ready for it. I'm still not sure I'm ready for it, I may end up hating the 7550 (yeah, I decided to take lees 7550), however, I do know this: I'm tired of that Pro 900:ish, D2000:ish sound, and I want to move on. Try something else for a change. At the time I had the RE262, I wanted bass and I wanted treble, and wanted them hard. Now all I can think of when I even hear the word bass is nausea - and yesterday I really felt it when I listened to some dubstep.

I hope I make sense here. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I need something new, something else for a change.
