The price does not shock me too much. They should have done 700$, because double is a psychological barrier vs. 535. The AK120 price is more shocking to me. I might ending buying both but I will feel guiltier on the AK120.
Been listening to Heavy Hawaii's Goosebumps a lot. It's one of those albums that just... works on some level you can't quite explain. Individually the puzzle pieces are all rounded, but somehow it just comes together as a whole like a pointillist painting of a small animal being startled by its own fart.
I'd describe their sound as fitting into that "AM radio broadcast from another dimension" category of Mexican Summer-type releases, only with a bit of Beach Boys a la Paw Tracks and maybe a dash of Captured Tracks for good measure.
Trust's TRST has been on heavy rotation since last year. I can't give it a rest. Here's the official video for "Sulk" which isn't so much a video as it's awkward clips of people dancing and riding around in cars. Which perfectly fits TRST and Trust in general.
It's the vocals that set Trust apart from so many bands doing this type of thing today. They've got just the right amount of decadent perversity but sound weary and apocalyptic. I imagine a phone-in psychic like Mistress Cleo would sound similar if she saw the end of the world in her crystal ball.
Why can't fortune tellers have kids? Because they've got crystal balls.
More dancing...
"Quest" from Vondelpark's Seabed. Personally I'm digging this stuff more than the new James Blake at the moment. Nice soulful-electronic-whatever.
What about you guys?
I love how they have to put their mouths all over everything in the store.
FI-BA-SS for $898
Piano Forte IX for $948
Heaven V Aging for $288
Heaven IV for $148
The Heaven V in particular is a great introduction to FAD in my opinion. It sits in the middle of the lineup sound-wise, as its numerical designation would suggest: it has the slightly less emphasized bass of the Heaven IV but the more energetic mids and highs of the Heaven VI. It's also more similar to the Heaven VI in terms of imaging and sense of space, one of the main reasons I've choose it over the flatter sounding Heaven IV.
To be honest, this song isn't the most brilliant thing I've ever heard. What I do love is that guitar refrain that happens at starting about 1:30. Something about it grips me and keeps my attention every time. it's like the first 1:30 of the song is just anticipation building up for that point, then it finally comes and I'm at peace.
So kalbee, a frequent member of the anime thread and one that helped me in a few ways when modding Nami-chan, is in that Japan headphone meet thing that's going on right now. He heard the Kuro and Donguri there, but he doesn't like the trebleness of both. He might be confused between the kuro and sui though (took picture of the kuro but said it's the sui), but nonetheless, said that the donguri is warmer than the sui (or kuro or kaede :s).
And apparently JHA has a full body carbon fibre CIEM. Full. Body. EDIT: it's apparent Jerry's personal CIEM (kalbee didn't mention which model though)
Can go bug him here: http://www.head-fi.org/u/274707/kalbee
I kind of stuck my big nose into the fray too, sorry about that. I'm with you on the tech part. I'm also excited about the 846 and really curious about those metal plates and how exactly they were used to shape the frequencies. some people have been commenting about the plastic shells and alluding to it looking cheap for its price. In my opinion I think it looks rather spiffy. Well guys it took months of scavenging around the jewellery and big box stores but this morning I finally found a nice looking watch that as MF would say looks totally ballin. Everyone feast your eyes on my brand spanking new, just bought an hour ago Bulova. All it needs now is an nice sexy looking stainless steel wrist band and my Bulova will look totally bitching.
I finally went ahead and scored a pair of 334. Got damn. After all of the seemingly immutable praise that's been heaped on these things, they'd better be the second coming of audio Jesus. Although... now that a few impressions of the Parterre are trickling in... I might have to off the 334 to get in on the ground floor of those babies if they do indeed filter the lauded FitEar sig thru a concert hall like space. I am just a sucker for immersion I guess.
Digi - Has the eagle landed yet? Last time I traced the package, it seems that they have left customs... That watch is indeed classy man. You'd classy up any joint just from having that thing around your wrist. You'd make a breakfast at Mickey D's feel like dinin' in Paris friendo
So I'll just wait for the filtered, curated info of the 846 to trickle down into this thread by people I trust. While I might scoff at almost every expensive merchandise right now due to student-level funds, I still recognise that technological innovation and R&D, and getting to be first adopters, commands a high price. And our dear friend tomscy highlighted shigzeo's (I think) impressions on the 846 here: http://ohm-image.net/opinion/audiophile/2013/5/11/sound-impressions-shure-se846
I think the R&D of the plates is very cool, but unless I'm mistaken, aren't those regular BA's etched on? They could have taken this time to at least develop a more proprietary option for drivers. Actually that is one of the reasons I wouldn't mind owning the IE800 (well, and because I think it's the coolest looking universal around). Hell, even Sony made their own drivers, and they are a lot cheaper! XD
I got the impression that they did semi-custom made it? But IMO R&D doesn't only cover "developing custom made BAs", but also the research on the arrangement and what materials to use for those plates, the exchangeable nozzle to be as user-friendly as possible, and.... something else that escapes my mind right now...

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'll be shooting by a jewellery store later on tomorrow and checking out some metal bands for it. The leather strap doesn't look half bad but I think a nice sexy boarder line dressy looking metal wristband would complete the look I going for a lot better. I might even look into maybe grabbing a thick cowhide Fossil wristband, if the look works for me that is.
@Idsynchrono
I haven't bothered to check tracking since Wednesday morning. On Thursday I went by my PO Box to pick up a CD and it wasn't there so I was going to check tracking on Monday and see where it might be. If it's cleared customs already it usually takes a couple of days or so for it to hit my PO Box. I'll check the tracking and shoot by my PO Box Monday or Tuesday.
