I have a computer at home with the Xonar D1 (same series as DX). S500 sounds great with it and gets very loud (lol). Wait until you get the S500 and try it before deciding you need the E11. I'd save my money toward the DT770.

I concur. The S500 is way easier to drive then either my ksc75 or my px100-ii. The S500 is easily driven (and sounds amazing) by either my Samsung Galaxy S2 (PowerAmp) or my Clip Zip.

Depending on how the S500 sound, I won't be buying a new headphone for a while. I'm gonna save up for a high end open air headphone, something like the HE-500 or whatever.

Well, it's only been 3 days with the S500, so I'm still in the honeymoon phase (which hopefully lasts a loooong time!). I'm still burning them in, so am looking forward to how that changes the sound. Also, I should be getting the ATH pleathers sometime this week, so looking forward to that also. Additionally, I just tried the foam tips on the FX40's which seems to transform them into something marvelous as well, so I have my ears full lol!

At the moment the only thing I am going to keep my eyes on is the S400. I think that I am more of a "mid-centric" kind of guy, and Doc says that the S400's (with ATH pleathers) is more mid-centric, which might appeal to me. But like I said, I have my ears happily full for a while!

I am surprised by this, but the best sound I've gotten out of these yet is running straight from my Galaxy Nexus w/ the ATH Pleathers.  The odd thing is I think most things sound pretty crappy out of the GNex, but not these.

Only decent source I still have now is a Dragonfly, but it bests it.  Not sure how that's possible but I've got about 20 hours on this combo and at least 200-300 on the phones overall.

Sorry. This is the S500 thread, so kind of assumed you were talking about the amp for use with the S500

Thanks for that link! It's a longshot, but one that might work...

Fwiw, I reformatted the 32G card to FAT32 using 64k file allocation. Sadly in rockbox mode it still hangs on me. So, I've been listening to my S500's on my clip zip in sansa mode... which really hasn't been much of a problem considering how friggin' great the S500 (and the FX40's with memory foam tips) sound. I am quite surprised that I don't feel the need to EQ them. Anyway, I'll keep my eye out for solutions to getting rockbox working for me.

Sorry. Maybe it just doesn't like your card. Have you googled to see if people are having problems with the Lexar card and Clip?

This may be obvious, I'll suggest it anyways: did you try reinstalling Rockbox?  I've run different versions the last couple years on my two Clip+'s, installed/reinstalled a number of times.  I had this same problem once, and reinstalling Rockbox fixed it.  I always do the manual installation.
