Senn HD25 velour pads you may find them in several colors, the pleather pads (in my opinion the best) you find it only in blue or black.
the only one flaw is that cost quite a lot

Hey everyone,

So I just took the plunge after reading quite a bit of this thread. Thanks a lot for making this thread OP and to everyone else for their invaluable information!

I was just wondering what size ear pads/cups? or if you knew of a place where I could order another set.
I wanted to change the colour of the ear pads to something a little more funky. Maybe a blue or yellow. I'm not quite sure.

Let me put it this way. I just got today the new UE6000. Fantastic sound but you know what. Those don't blow away the sound that is on my HA-S500. In fact I had to hear them for several tunes just to get used to them. The resolution on the HA-S500 and clarity is top notch in my opinion..Spend the money get the HA-S500.

That's a very interesting comparsion. Definitely looking for a more detail comparsion. Why? Well, Craigster75 did a comparsion between UE6000 vs M-100, they are very similar:

http://www.head-fi.org/t/623894/ultimate-ears-headphones-released-the-ue4000-ue6000-and-the-ue9000-impressions-thread/285

Comfort- UE6000 Although heavier and larger, the UE6000 has less clamping force and, more importantly for me larger, deeper, plusher cups that fit around my ears better. I could wear these for hours. After an hour or so, I felt some discomfort with the M-100.

Bass- I have to call this a draw. UE6000 bass seems deeper and more authoritative. M-100 bass is also deep and authoritative, yet also tighter and I feel the drivers pushing air at high volume with bass boost.

Mids- M-100 Both provide excellent mids. Compared to other headphones I have heard (not top-tier summit-fi) Detail/resolution in the UE6000 is an 8 out of 10; M-100 is a 9 out of 10.

Highs- M-100 The UE6000 has highs I would consider very close to neutral. This works extremely well with current popular music that seems to have a treble emphasis, smoothing out those highs and providing a highly pleasurable listening experience that is by no means dark and can even sparkle somewhat. The M-100 fills in the small bit of rolloff that is missing from the UE6000 and smoothly extends the highs almost to brightness with absolutely no harshness- quite an accomplishment.

I think so yes. The HA-S400 sound great for a cheapo but that is the problem with them once you buy them you will wonder why you didn't get the HA-S500 in the first place. I know they cost as little as a 1/3rd the price of these HA-S500 but imo the cost is definitely justifiable..

WoW that's reassuring to hear. Can't wait for you to do an A/B between these two, though the UE6000 seems like the best choice if people want to go for a higher end can that will give you the most bang for the buck. These are interesting times for audio gear indeed.

You know what - I did not check that at all. Thanks! I will definitely have to do so!

Randomly it seems. And after it hangs on a song, after rebooting I can play the same song fine (and it will hang on a different one). Anyway, I'll try the 64k file allocation - thanks again.
And on a really happy note, I had by S500's shipped to my brother's place (because I thought I might be away when they arrived), and word is in that he has them. You can bet who I'll be visiting tomorrow! And I will finally be able see if rickdohc has been BS'ing me about the S500's being better than my almighty modded KSC75's!..

Edit 1: I can't find mention of "file allocation" or "64k" in this thread or in doc's post. I do see to format it to "fat32" (which I did do)...

Edit 2: Looks like I'm not the only one. I'll keep diggin:

It's easy to do, they're so small. Especially the black ones that I have had in the past, if you drop it you just can't see it!

I've been rocking these 'baby JVC's' a while now and have to say they're quite excellent for the price ($11.99). Super portable, look stylish and fold flat. Great sound, too.

Just saying, guys

They're not bad, especially for the price....I've had them before. But they're nothing compared to the S500's discussed here.

$12 vs $55. That's the same as comparing a $55 can to a $200 one. So no surprise there. However, for the price they're (imo) quite excellent.

That's funny cuz I would take my S500 over my ATH M50's that I just traded away any day of the week... The extra dollars didn't seem to help the sound of the M50 for some reason.
