So for headfi members all of us will have a chance to get one of the first 50-100? Or is it limited to just some of the members?

everybody on here is going to get first priority... don't worry...  even though Tokyo/Asia is trying to buy them all up I put you FIRST in line.

Plus I'm trying to get head-fiers to extra pieces of test gear if I can.  BUT every head-fi M-100 purchaser gets custom shields, so start thinking about your designs or one of ours.

But don't worry, you'll get stock shields too, the customs is just something we want EVERYBODY to have now.  And we have the process down to hours so we like to test it in volume.

M-100 SS

I made a decision for the Matte Black Model to have ORANGE cable for the audio only.  But he talked me into making it orange for the mic'd cables.  So this project has had so much input, I'll give people credit!

'SS' sounds a little too Third Reich, but what's in a name...I can flow with it.

Heh heh...you have been dead set on orange.  Pretty bold move.   I recall not too many on here were too big on the orange as it strayed from the V-Moda brand imaging.  But that was for the packaging.  If worse comes to worse I can always whip out a black sharpie.  Is the 'HE' you mentioned an actual person or is it the subconcious little orange man perched on your shoulder?

M-100 RETAIL QUAGMIRE
Since we'll be launching in USA on V-MODA.com and Amazon, we are going to offer the following:

1) 60-day guarantee + ULTRA easy return if not satisfied
2) extras on V-MODA.com (customs)
3) Prime Shipping options on Amazon.com

Since we'll have no retail stores at the moment in USA selling M-100, can you think of a way for users to allow users to try them out locally?  This may be our best "local user experience"

Any other ideas welcome.  Obviously, V-MODA is working on our OWN stores now in LA, NYC, LV and in China/HK.  But, until they are completed I want the best of both worlds.

I may announce a few retailers in the future, but as you can see we are focused on agility of 1-day customization and 100% satisfaction.

Maybe group meets, loaners, etc...

EDIT:
I actually ENCOURAGE those who are on the borderline to buy M-100 from V-MODA.com and if you don't like them, return them.  We have seen less than 5% returns so we are very confident this is a product you'll love.  And if not, we can refurbish and sell to those who couldn't afford at full price so it is a win-win!

I'm not even after some new headphones but these look awesome! I love the shadow colours but black with orange sounds interesting.
Is it only orange cables? Or are there other orange parts on the matte black? On the case maybe?

If I get a pair I can definitely let anyone nearby try them. I live in Australia though, alot smaller market out here. Especially where I live!

I'll have to get these sent to a mates place so the missus doesn't find out about them!

After 10 years on Head-Fi I'd have to say that group meets and loaners are a great way for users to hear products. I live on a fairly small island but we have an inordinate amount of Head-Fier's, there's 3 of us here that have been members for 10 years, plus a few other local enthusiasts who aren't regular members. We typically trade gear around so that everyone gets a listen.

In the case of Canada, maybe setting up a loaner program with a pair or two traveling around the country? That way we wouldn't have to deal with paying fees and taxes to get them across the border to try. I'd be willing to help out in the organization of something like that if you wanted to go that route.

I just got an M-80 last week and I've been raving to friends about how good they are. For their price I have a hard time reconciling the quality of sound and build, it's definitely one of the best deals in headphones I've come across in my time here. While the M-80 admirably serves the purpose I bought it for (and more for that matter) I'm so impressed with it that I'm quite sure a pair of PPU M-100's are in my future.

My wallet is going to really hate me for this after getting the fostex and akg. But I am pretty sure this will be the perfect over ear portable for me.

Val, it will be very useful for us international buyers to "camp" if you could provide the official time and date of the release. :)

Man, this reminds me of lining up for the Phantom Menace....

Edit: There's a theme and colour scheme right there

I don't really have a specific idea for a custom shield, so I welcome any "stock" suggested designs your creative team comes up with.  I still think it would be cool to have the option of your signature etched into the shield, maybe at an angle from lower left to upper right with the V-Moda logo below and call it the Signature edition.  I would order this as my custom shield.  It would also be a great way to create buzz since I could see people asking me whose signature was on my headphone.

Events/listening stations at large shopping malls with guest DJs- great way to create buzz and reach your target market; relatively low cost- a few employees and a van travel cross country.  You may even have a waiting list on your staff to do this.  If you are looking at retail space, you MUST check out King of Prussia Mall in PA.  This is THE retail destination for the Philadelphia market in the heart of the most demographically desirable area in the region.  It is also the largest shopping mall on the East coast.

P.S. It's great to have you back contributing after a brief hiatus, I can stop whining now.  After seeing the box pictures, I will be ordering white- amazing.
