I've worked on computers a lot, but try to avoid getting too technical.

...You shouldn't mention ambitious goals in a post with Tom and I together. He has a great sense of humor, but reacts with disbelief at things that *totally* happened!

It just keeps getting better. I already thought of you as a slightly younger brother, and what do you know...you're three years my junior.

Did you notice the "excess jabbing" remark I made a while ago? It was oozing with pun.

In that case, here's a juicy lead for your stalker self.

No comment on my genius reference? I don't think too many people here would get it.

Surely you don't expect me to reveal the secrets of the best game ever on a forum.

Did you read through my wish list thread yet? =D

My Spada, why hast thou forsaken me?

...Which brings me to my next contribution: the best track from the Black Butler soundtrack, "Si Deus Me Relinquit" ("If God Has Forsaken Me")

(What? You're scrolling past? Seriously, this is well worth your seven minutes.)

I don't tend to discuss work matters outside of work, I see plenty enough of it during business hours that by the time my body is free of it, so is my mind.

Pretty crazy how some things work out, eh? I'm so accustomed to jabs and jokes that, while they don't go by unnoticed, they certainly don't linger. My social and work lives are almost literally nothing but puns. You were wise to have posted a link to your comment history, especially considering my capacity for memory. I couldn't honestly be bothered look through so many pages of comments without context though, and gave up before finding the reference. I'm no Sherlock, that's for sure.

I'm sorry to say, but in regards to your references, this is me: (edit: I swear I tried 5 times to get this stupid GIF to display within the comment. No image available each time. I quit.)

And I did read your wish list, but that sucker is huge! No way in hell can I remember everything! Noooo way.

Tabs are a glorious thing, too. Listened through the video. It's not the type of music I need during work, but it was definitely relaxing.

That's strange, because in so many reviews for the FSP, I hear about how they have excellent, punchy, deep bass. Perhaps people are using different equipment with it. Is your player just the iPhone? Most serious reviewers use more serious sources.

The entire purpose of these headphones is to have a neutral and balanced sound. I don't want overemphasized bass that isn't in the recording.

I'm not a serious reviewer tho I would like to learn more(GoldenEars). I've written down impressions but nothing with great confidence and certainly not serious.

I only have a iPhone 4. I think the GR07 BE does bass justice while remaining well balanced. If the FSP is suppose to represent what the recording should sound like, I didn't like its low end.

That's interesting; however, neutrality is but one aspect.

UnityIsPower said the bass wasn't satisfying. Given what I have heard about how satisfying the FSP's bass can be, I suspected something in the chain contributing to the lackluster experience.

I would imagine that a powerful desktop amp with equal neutrality to an iPhone would deliver a different presentation.

Uh....

0.04 mW * 2 ^ 12 = 163.84 mW
A basic portable amp would be able to drive these just fine to reach even 130 dB SPL; I normally calculate 115 dB SPL since that's already well above normal listening levels with dynamic music and that only requires 12.90 mW of power for the FSP. A Sansa Clip Zip provides that much power.

I concur, at least as concerns the black finish; the platinum finish is the coolest-looking amp I've ever seen. And it's obviously a cost-no-object item. This may not matter to you, but Jack Wu himself told me "the 234 takes superiority in speed, dynamic control, transient response, sound stage width and depth."

In this post, I link to reviews for the 234/Abyss combo. It's really pushing the envelope, or so it seems...

I don't know why this should matter to anyone? Who is this Wu guy and why is his opinion worth so much?

Even if I had the money to buy this combo I would never even think about buying it. This Summit-Fi stuff is diminishing returns incarnate.
This thing here is the pinnacle of all this amp madness. Saw it at a local audio convention and could not believe my eyes:

The Unison Absolute

Costs as little as €30k and weighs around 100kg.
Absolute madness.

This had me rolling for a while. I got a few awkward stares and questions in the office... woops.

edit: Once again, why are images failing me today? I've not had problems posting gif's until within the past few minutes.

Huh? I watched it two times and still don't get it.

I quoted (again) the reference you were supposed to easily get, but others might not. It should be fairly obvious.

Listen to the techno song I posted too! (Also, make sure to click that harem link, it's pretty funny IMO.)

Yeah, yeah, but I was speaking in general terms. There's obviously no reason to use that type of amp with the FSP; it was just an example to illustrate my point of neutrality being merely one aspect of sound.

All I know is that I have heard amazing things about the DX90 + FSP combo and how it beats some four figure systems.

His opinion counts because he designs amps that are famous among audiophiles for their sound.

Ultimately, the only thing I care about is the sound quality. Unless you've heard a component yourself and had the chance to do extensive comparisons, you're not really qualified to judge on such matters. Most people criticize things for being overpriced and not worth it. This may be true, but is beside the point for uncompromising individuals who want the best. (If you can demonstrate that a cheaper product is superior to a much more expensive one, more power to you; but conjecture holds no value to me.)

Jack Wu, founder of Woo Audio, and the designer of the amp. Naturally he'd praise his own product. XD

It's still nice to hear what he thinks of it!

WOW. Biggest whoosh. I get it. Sword. Me. We.

That's funny, well done
