Teclast X19HD (now available)
Dec 17, 2011 at 8:29 AM Post #106 of 234
Well I've not got anything to compare it to so take my impressions with a grain of salt.

I'm actually Chinese but as I was born and raised in the UK, my Chinese is pretty lacking so I've not played with the settings too much. I have it on flat EQ and low gain.

Using my CK10 and using my PC+E7 as reference:
-Detail and clarity are both pretty equal, I can't tell any difference.
-The X19HD sounds neutral (if the E7 is classed as neutral) but sounds very slightly warm compared to the E7, but it's only a tint and it's barely noticeable.
-The sound doesn't sound as dimensional as the E7 but I'd say separation and imaging are actually better on the X19HD.

Unfortunately that's all I really have to say about the X19HD.

Ah I found how to change the language:

1) Hold the "E/M" button for about one second and menu comes up and it should say 音乐播放 with the music symbol (This is "Now playing" mode).
2) Press the "Up" button once and it should show a spanner and hammer symbol with 系统统设置 ("System settings").
3) Press the "E/M" button once and it should go to a new screen with 系统统设置 at the top and 3 options.
4) Press the "Down" button 7 times, you should be on the 3rd screen and highlighting the second option 语言选择 ("Language choice") with an icon consisting of a box with a flag inside.
5) Press the "E/M" button once and it should go to a new screen with 语言选择 at the top and 3 options.
6) Press the "Up" button once and you should be highlighting the top option 英文 ("English").
7) Press the "E/M" button once and voila, it's now in English!

EDIT: Currently testing how long the battery lasts!

Battery just ran out, almost 22 hours of play time.

I went for the cheapest option, official standard and it came as above. I doubt there's any benefit of going for package A or II.

EDIT: I've just gone onto the main link on Taobao and translating it (albeit very slowly due to my poor Chinese). They are "packages".

"Official standard" = "原装耳机+USB连接线+?得魇?+保修卡+合格证+(标配不含充电器 )" = Original earphones + USB cable + 得魇(?) + Warranty Card + Pass certificate (Not sure how to translate it, basically the certificate to say it confines with certain standards or whatever) + (non-genuine charger). (Note: I didn't receive a charger but I'm from the UK so a Chinese charger would have been useless)

Package 1: "官方标配(原装耳机、USB连接线、说明书、保修卡、合格证)+原装U90充电器(送挂绳布袋+绕线器+短插)" = Same as official standard + genuine U90 charger (free lanyard/string bag + cable winder tool + 短插?)

Package 2: "官方标配(原装耳机、USB连接线、说明书、保修卡、合格证)+原装U90充电器+蓝魔RX100原装耳机(送精美绒布袋+绕线器+短插)" = Same as official standard + genuine U90 charger + genuine RX100 earphones (earbuds worth about £1-2 it seems) (free velvet bag + cable winder tool + 短插?)

Was the bass option enabled and what sound option you used the super or the hifi, still testing different options.

SRS off, EQ "Normal" (Basically flat/off), Volume Mode: "Super", "Bassmax9723": Disabled, volume was 20.

How did you find the sound super vs hifi? I myself preferred the Hifi mode and why did you turn the Bassmax off? in some songs it makes a big difference. SOME...

I didn't actually compare super vs hifi yet, I heard that higher gains distort the sound more. I thought the Bassmax option was a hardware bass boost? I'm not really a fan of colouring the sound.

I had to reset it for it was  stuck on this stupid Chinese screen , which I think it means updating media or something, but still testing the sound with hifi and Bassmax.

"Bassmax" should be the hardware bass boost, which... naturally, should sound better than software bass boost.

If this thing really is so cheap at mistertao.com, then it should be a perfect rival to the Zo in bass qualities.

Yeh, it's a bit silly to keep hunting for the cheapest price/perforamnce, but nice to keep high sound quality at a low price, and not mind if you scratch or lose your Hi-Fi gear.

for me The Bassmaxx does not change the sound as much as it adds punch to it, like the bass becomes clearer without distortion, but it suits some songs/recordings better than others,  to be fair I think I should leave it  to burn in.
