At least to my ears the ED10 beat the T1 easily, but compared to the HD800,they are Orange-apple story. But IMO if you force me to say which are better.
I would with no hesitation say the ED10.
Note that I myself own both the T1 and HD800.

Did you heard the true sound of T1? This headphone even hard to drive than HD800.....

I think beauty is somewhat intrinsic. Otherwise, how would all those minds which perceive beauty have such common ground? Beauty must resonate with people's humanity, touching something inside them that they may not be aware of. In societies on the brink of collapse, often ones that have gotten to a point where they totally ignore morality and view people as expendable, common standards of art and beauty get very distorted. You can see this with some modern art which is not attractive at all, but depressing and chaotic, not to reflect the state of the universe but to simply be an end in themselves, a nothing. Anyway, I can see how some people do not like the looks of the Edition 10 as it does have some strong elements in the design that are not exactly relaxing to the eye, as opposed the Edition 8 standard and Palladium editions.

We agree that humans perceive art similarly, due to something intrinsic to our minds. But art isn't simply what emotions are subconsciously evoked in humans, but how humans choose to consciously react to what they perceive. Depressing and chaotic art, when perceived the right way, can "lift your mind to higher things". Saying all art has to be relaxing is like saying a painter isn't allowed to paint a thunderstorm. I think if it's a well done painting it is aesthetic, if not, with a lot of carelessness, then I would label it unaesthetic, even though I appreciate doodles.

To draw a parallel to Edition 10, I think when people say it is "ugly", what they really mean is much more than that it is unconsciously unaesthetic. They also factor in the price, emphasis on form over function, etc.

We are planning to have a shoot-out between ED10 and Stax O2 (as well as Stax SR507 and Stax SR404) this coming Saturday in Bangkok.

ED10 are likely to be paired with the following system:

- MBP + Weiss DAC202

- MBP + Weiss INT202 + Alpha DAC + Phonitor

Impressions and photos will of course be posted on this thread.

Yeah I heard my T1 through our DIY Tubeamp, which's built for the HE5.It's no problem to drive the T1 and it seems to have good synergy between them.
But actually I heard the T1 side by side with the ED10 through Stagedac+Concerto as I compared them.
I can really state that the ED10 are better than the T1,but It's not enough to make me buy the ED10,unless they can be brought under 2500$ or less.

I think that's an appropriate comparison given the stratospheric price of the Edition 10. I look forward to reading how Ultrasone's premium offering performs as a hi fidelity headphone when compared to the Stax flagship. I trust we can all agree that this is its primary function after all.

Hi.
I´m owner about two years ago of Edition 9.. To this day are my reference headphones, after trying many tall models: HD800, GS1000, PS1, Omega II, L3000, K1000 and someone else. I was wondering what are the differences between 10 and Edition 9 Edition.

Best regards.

Sorry my english

Hey there, Azelais. If you look a few pages back in this thread you'll find impressions of the Edition 10 vs. Edition 9. When I get my Edition 10 I'll be comparing it to the Edition 9 and 8 as well, but I'm not sure when that will be since they aren't out here yet.

I'm really loving my Edition 9 by the way. I'm going to get them re-cabled soon to try and tighten the bass up just a little bit. I really wish I bought these new back when they were still available.

Hi Azelais,

I try to summarize the difference between the Ultrasone Edition 9(E9) Stock with > 400 hrs and Edition 10(E10) Stock with > 250 hrs :

Lows

The bass of the E10 goes deeper than the E9. The E9 seems to have a more boomy bass, while the E10 has just the right amount of bass that is clear, transparent, tight and musical. Drums are very exciting, even the double bass which is not easily noticeable in quite a number of headphones is quite apparent in the E10. Organ lows are also very grand with the E10.

On the E9, I noticed that there is some small vibrations when playing low bass, which is largely absent in thr E10. It may be due to the newly designed earcups of the E10.

Mids

Since the bass does not intrude the mids, the E10 mids are clear and sweet. The OP had mentioned that on the E10, the instruments are very natural. I have to agree to this point. The violins are just like violins in a live concert. You can hear the sound of the strings interacting with the wooden body of the violin. Brass is quite interesting in a way that the reverberations of the metal tube can be heard too. Male and female vocals also excelled in the E10. You can hear the vocal character of the singer's voice. Things such as Karen Carpenter's husky voice and Rod Steward's unique gravelly voice can be picked up easily. I feel that the E9 mids are not as clear and natural. It may be due to the strong bass or the closed nature of the E9.

Highs

The treble of the E10 beats the E9 hands down. It is sparkling and clear. When you hear certain instruments such as harps, it is the best headphone that I experienced so far. However, there is a region in the E10 which is somewhere between the high mids and low treble that still needs further refinement IMO.

Sound Stage

The deep and wide sound stage in the E10 is definitely better than the E9. It is most likely due to the open nature of the E10. The sound of the E10 is multi-layered and textured. I did not notice this so much in the E9.

You can read my earlier impressions for the burn-in progress of the E10.

Hi MuppetFace,

How do you find the E9 as compared to the E8?

Thank you for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!

that's the right thing to do.Eventhough I find the ED10 are better than the ED9 mod in all points,I still love the Bass of ED9 mod so much, even it's not as extend and detail as the bass of the ED10,but for Bass-Head  like me only JH16 can make me feel this way,  it really rocks. Most people may say the ED9's bass Boomy, but after you recable them ,the bass tighten up a bit and you still have this huge Bass quantity, which not easily found in the another headphones.
