Read that more carefully. It states that an MOT may not PM or email in response to a general request or any other discussion in the forums. It specifically does not contemplate an MOT's response to an unsolicited PM from another member. Further, if you read the entire TOU, then you will note that the spirit of the policy with respect to PMs/Emails is that the functionality is not to be used BY THE MOT to provide unsolicited informationto members. The TOU is silent with respect to an MOT's response to a member's question (i.e., a response is solicited by the member, or put another way, an unsolicited question to an MOT). Therefore, as I read it, the TOU appear to permit an MOT to respond to a member's specific question about the MOT's product via PM. And it makes sense to allow such activity.

Now, a PM with a question to a MoT is another story.

Thank you both for clearing that up. I'm not too good with lawyer speak.

I'm betting the HD800 is very similar to the K701, as well, albeit with a wider sound. I love a crisp, non-flabby sound that emphasizes accuracy, so the HD800 may turn out to be a real winner. Some day, they might even be available to buy.

I'm not implying that they sound the same just because of the glaring similarity of the curves, although personally I wouldn't mind if the HD 800 turned out as a refined and perfectioned K 701.

I'll add: (...and likes the K 701...)
.

Totally jealous in UK here.

am happy with what I have read from initial revues compared to my own audition in February. It will take a while to become accustomed to the HD800. They will never have the slam of an Ed9 or D7000 but offer a pure reflection of a recording.

Enjoy CanJam and keep the impressions rolling.

I am disappointed (again) in the cable. A replacement costs $163, but, I warn against such. It really seems like a 650 cable, terminated differently, with a fiber stuffing and a kevlar (?) sleve. Not at all what I expected for a phone of this caliber.

Alex is reterminating my cable, and whipping up a v3, now that the ODU plugs have been verified.

Oh, and I registered last night, but no response from Senn - again, not surprising.

Listening impressions by Sunday.

As the only one, out side the Sennheiser site where they designed, who have cut one up I would advise you to find a microscope when its cut open and you will see its not all that meets the eye

You are not the only one - I work for Sennheiser and still have not got my own pair yet.

i got my pair today. opened them up real quick. the hard box is the same 600/650 box, just a little nicer on the inside and a small band on the corner to stop it from flipping all the way. the headphones are not as heavy/substantial feeling as i imagined. they don't look mid-fi but don't exactly exude high end either. the foam on the inside of the cup is kind of odd. it has a raised impression of the senn logo on it. not sure if that was a great idea. the cable looks decent. hope to do some initial comparisons to the 600/650 this weekend.

and btw, thanks fedex for *not* buzzing my apt (i was home all morning) and just leaving $1400 headphones in the lobby area. why do all private carriers suck.

I will be happy if the HD800 sound as good my HE60, even if the bass is the same, although I suspect the HD800 will have more bass. A dynamic version of the HE60 wouldn't upset me at all.

Can you comment on the HE60 vs HD800 in terms of sound signature? You don't have to say which is better, just wanted to hear what you think they do similarly or differently. (I can use my HE60 on the HEV70 or my Woo GES which is loads better).

Interesting impressions. but as the sentence say....as the size of the expectation...is the size of the dissapointment. maybe some people just were expecting too much from the hd800, and who can blame them after all the impressions made by the sellers and all. but anyway...the hd800 probably need some time to get used to and to burn in also.

for me,getting them is only a dream that will probably not come true in the next couple of years, so i will have to satisfy myself with the impressions while listening to my denons.
anyway...all the proud owners(and future owners also) enjoy your new high end gear.

I am very pleased with my HD800s. They have lived up to my expectations and then some. I have today listened through the Shaw recording of Verdi's Requiem on Telarc, remasters of Who, Dire Straits, and U2, with so much more to come. I am very happy with these cans.
