I've derailed the thread a little bit. Sorry.

I'll try on topic this time.

Rudeness is the single thing that I do tend to respond to. I went to the art gallery today and while standing in line for a ticket these two ladies walked straight past the line and up to the counter. Given that I was next to be served, I said in a rather stern voice 'excuse me' and gestured to the line. They looked at me like I was the one in the wrong. I wasn't being rude. There was clearly a queue. The bollards, ropes and people lined up in an orderly fashion should have been enough. Sigh...

As for rudeness in internet forums. I choose not to respond these days ... mostly.

exactly the kind of thing that irks me. I'm not the kind to act on it though (although I did just rant in some thread on here). Out of curiosity, what art gallery?
edit: Cheers mate @ post below.

If I were Degas, I would have smiled at the two rude ladies, and asked them if they cared to pose nekkid for a painting.

Not necessarily. I don't know about this particular case, but the OED prescribes the Z spelling rather often. It's not that words SHOULD be spelt with a Z in English, just that people in England generally do so. OED argues that the Z is preferable as it is more etymologically conservative.

Perhaps he used the line 'would you like to come back to my place and see my etchings. Oh, they're not done yet ... strip off and I'll do one of you'.

It appears he had no shortage of models. Perhaps many of them were ladies of the evening.

BTW - I want to get me one of them there joke tellin' shirts.

Really? Where did you hear that? No one I know in the UK 'generally' uses -ize endings at all. And I never see it written like that in the British media either. That doesn't mean it's incorrect, since either spelling is accepted - but -ize is definitely not in common usage here, not yet anyway.

To the best of my knowledge -ize is not in popular use in Australia either. However, pronunciation of Z as 'zee' is creeping in. I blame a generation raised on TV shows like Sesame Street.
