Yep was running it straight out of my crappy sound card. Just plugged into my Pioneer Receiver and heard the hell out of the bass. Amazing difference.

This is correct. I thought this is pretty self-explanatory.

Fat part of the pad to the back of your ears. The oval (of sorts) opening in the pads should therefore be vertical.

wow, 2 weeks lol. Took me only 2 hours to realize something "terribly wrong" with my pair after reading up a lot about the great Denon bass.

You know though, they sounded pretty good as I had them in the first place.

After listening to the D7000 for a week now I can honestly say they are amazing. I think I have the perfect headphone for me. Now I can maybe look at improving my DAC/amp but I am pretty happy with the STX so far and am I not really in any hurry. Maybe in a couple of years I will feel more inclined to do so.

While I still love my D7000's, I am realizing more a slight sibilance or grain in the treble that some report. I would never have noticed except for the fact that I own a pair of Grado 325is which have absolute clarity in the mid/treble (in my system, balanced) to compare to. This isn't so much a complaint of the D7000 as a compliment of the 325is- they are an excellent headphone for clarity and detail without harshness (again, in my system and balanced). Comparing the bass, there is no contest with that, the D7000's are clearly better, going deeper and with more definition (but the Grado is no slouch).
If I could Frankenstein the two (D7000 bass with 325is treble/mid), that would be something...

I previously owned the SR325is headphones and the highs made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up...way too bright and hot high end for me. I much prefer the more refined RS1 highs...the D7000s have very nice highs that aren't as shrilly to my ears as the SR325is headphones...and to me that's a good thing.

Don't get me wrong, I still think that the SR325 headphones are great cans (especially for the price), but for my ears the treble was way too hot. I personally preferred the SR225i in the Prestige Series.
