Ultrasone Edition 8

The SDJ should not have better isolation. The E8 has better isolation than the Sig Pro, which I owned at the same time, and did not think the SDJ isolated more than the SP when I owned them at the same time.

Isolation on Ed8 is one of it's strong points, though I prefer the Signature line overall by a fair amount.

[size=10pt]Interesting point. I do own both ED8 and SDJ and i have different feeling. I guess it could be because of the size of head. I extend gimbal fullly on ED8 and it fits slightly lose (just good enough to prevent bass leacking) . but for SDJ it does fit very tightly and got better isolation out of it. so I guess it deepens on person who wear. I wished to mention earlier that head size has a tremendous impact on isolation, fit and comfort. E8 seems to prefer smaller craniums.

Just to bring this thread alive.
Recently got a good deal on the new Romeo version so I bought it. Didn't really love the original one so wonder if there are any signature changes due to cable change.

I compared the Romeos side by side with the Ed8LEs and I couldn't hear any difference but that was a quick 10 min listen with my RWAK100. I so much want to have the SigDJ sound in the Romeos but think that'll just be wishful fantasy. To me the Ed8 design is great for outdoor use with decent isolation. It's more compact & lower profile.

Hmm, but do you have any suggestions on DAPs that will make the sound signature less aggressive and more laid back?

Hey I was wondering the bass quantity of these vs the Denon D5000s in midbass and subbass thx in advance. And if any of you were to be able to enlighten me with comparisons to any headphones except the Signature DJ because its not available in my country. Maybe vs the W3000ANV, D5000, D7100 or W1000x Grandiso. Thanks again for any help given!

I have never heard the Edition 8s so I wish I could help from personal experience, but I've researched these headphones quite a bit. The reviews I've read comparing them basically say the Ed8 has a more controlled bass range overall. The D5000 has a looser bass range but the subbass reaches deeper than the Ed8. The Ed8 has a pretty hefty subbass lacking overall.

I'd easily write off the Denon D7100. It is utter crap of a headphone. The bass is so uncontrolled and boomy it just rings in the cups and is a mess. Complete downgrade from the D2000. Unfortunately my time with the Audio Technica's is too brief to be accurate or helpful.

I had both for a while & your description is spot on.  The only detail I'd add is that D5000 are also sorely lacking in mids & treble is sometimes excessive.
