A couple of points:
WRT John -- that's easy for him to say, he probably has a pair. I say, he should have to give all of his up.

WRT the utility of this thread -- ah, but Grado is not the only potential target audience of this thread. What if, say, one of Grado's competition were to create a headphone (different design, of course, but voiced similarly) that replaced the HP-1000? That would be fine with me.
WRT paying in advance -- nothing personal, but I don't trust him. He might just come out with a RS-3 (or is it RS-0?). Sorry, not paying for something, sight unseen, like that. Besides, I've heard that he deliberately voices them to flatter female vocals, which is exactly not the intent of the HP-1000's.
