Simple KSC75 to Headband Mod, Easy As Pie (Pics, 56k, maybe..)

Well I'm about to get another pair of px100s for a custom headphone project, and I'll be using the headband for the ksc75s. This is pretty much the best option if you have a use for the drivers. I'll post pics when I'm done.

A few pages back someone suggested that JetBlu may have some that they give out for free, too bad I go to the airport on the average of .5 times per year.

yeah... there's no local walmart nearby to get the durabrand radio/headphone pack... nor is there a target for me to get the zenith ZL200... i don't want to get it from P.E., because the protruding metal is really ugly. i go to the airport like once a year. hmmm... where can i get a pair?

here you go guys

Actually, I posted in your other thread, but it's already dropped off of the first page last time I looked. What you found is at a very good price, however, and is the answer for KSC75's in a headband, the Koss KTXPro or the Radio Shack Pro35:

Amazon.com: Koss KTXPRO1 Titanium Portable Headphones with Volume Control: Electronics - $12.25 plus shipping. I bought mine at a half-price sale at Radio Shack for $19.99, so that's a great price.

Hello, I also have the KSC75 and am planning to look for the cheap Wal-Mart, Rite-Aid, etc. headphones that will allow the "simple KSC75 to headband mod" discussed in the title post. For its price, I like the sound of the KSC75 with many types of classical music, but I don't like the feel of the earclips.

At any rate, here is a caution that the Koss KTXPro1 portable, headband, titanium-driver phones may not sound identical to the KSC75. (The KTXPro1 is currently available from several web vendors including Amazon, Radio Shack, and Koss direct.) My caution is from forum search results rather than personal experience. See in particular these threads:

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/kos...-1-sale-18798/
This shows the KTXPRO1 is an older model, introduced in late 2002.

See in particular last post by Fewtch commenting on disappointment at sound quality of the KTXPro1.

If you like the sound of the KSC75, the advantage of the "simple headband mod" is that the drivers and housing from the stock model are kept intact. Whereas the KTXPro1 may have the same drivers as KSC75, but in a different housing, which is likely to affect the sound.

I followed this advice after busting my rag-tag ass all over town and behold, there it was. the only portable radio that didn't come with earbuds, worked quite nicely.

tl;dr

thank you, thank you, thank you.

I struck out all over town today in Grand Rapids looking for a cheap compatible headband. I even considered checking out ladies headbands but decided against if for aesthetics sake alone.
