It's supposed to have a tiny sound stage and stuff... no good for Sennys.

You're joking right? You remind me of the people who think the E9 can't drive an HD-600 because it's so cheap.
"Doesn't have the power!"

I doubt anyone has even tried one yet.

It's too early to start making blanket recommendations like that.  No one's even had a chance to separate the performance of the Magni and Modi yet and there's only a couple of us that have heard the combination with the HD-650.  I've got more listening to do with the HD-650/M&M combination, but it's definitely worth considering for someone on a budget.  There's plenty of power and good bass dynamics.  The brightness of the combination push the upper mids and treble forward a bit--which some people may prefer with the HD-650.  Although the M&M lacks the airiness and resolution of high-end systems, it's very listenable with the HD-650.  I certainly wouldn't rule it out as an entry level separate amp/dac system.

, plus I said "maybe".. no reason to rule it out as a "decent to great" budget amp/dac combo for the HD 650s. I never said it will sound the best or even near the best, but it's definitely an option for those who don't want to spend 1000$+ on an amp and dac. Schiit makes absolutely amazing price to performance products, so there is no reason to think that the Magni/Modi should be any different.

Sorry guys should have been clearer. I already have those 2 amps. Have to set one of them up. Which one?
The topping is DAC and amp. You can use it as one or both. The bottom one is an integrated tube amp. It has no dac. You wouldn't use the bottom one without the topping acting as the dac.

Good question. I havent even switched them on yet. I was given them as presents and i wont be setting them up until christmas day, if you get my drift. i wont be getting the headphones till christmas day either.

im looking at the wrapped boxes as i type but cant touch them. its killing me! its veering towards the Topping, the valve amp doesnt have a dedicated headphone amp i think?

the new magni setup looks really good and cheap, not sure about shipping to ireland though.
