Did you say you'd return them?? :p

Haha okay I know what your implication here is, but let me at least ATTEMPT a defense.

I bought the HD600s with every intention of keeping them. However, I ended up loving them so much with just a FEW niggling complaints that I have the 650s over there in my sights. I realize that I can't get any good head-time with the 650s otherwise (the ONLY audition spot is 130 miles away at AC Gears where I won't be able to really give them a listen), so yes, I'm going to be That A-hole.

Depending, of course. I've heard some people keep both...

Haha, just felt like teasing. But the most important thing is that you're happy with what you're listening to.

Maybe that's the real allure to them. Although they don't have any one perfect quality, maybe they do everything well enough that you never find yourself doing that internal balancing act of "yeah okay ___ isn't as great, but ____ is so awesome!" They just perform.

Still not sure what'll happen 650 vs 600. Need another listen. AUGH.

Easy to answer that...you keep both!!

I think that's it :) The warm, smooth, slightly bassy signature is the most popular sound signature on the planet, so it's not like THAT raises any eyebrows, but it's just executed so damn well, with awesome separation and a nice big stage. On top of that, they don't emphasize any one area of their technical ability, or fall noticeably short in any area either.

It's basically the most well-rounded headphone, period.

A dilemma is a tough choice between 2 bad options.  But in this case, it's a choice between 3 excellent options (keep just 600, just 650, or both).  So AUGH should turn to AHH.

Haha good point! I win no matter what!

Hello, newcomer in this thread here.
Just auditioned this headphone, and all in my mind is "Coloured". Can somebody explain if this is normal, or just a setup issue, because i think its the most colored headphone i've tried!
Also, why is this often called a slow headphone?
other than that i'm hoping to buy this baby...

All headphones are coloured. It's what they do.

Does anyone have the hd700 and the hd650? So i can get some advice on which is really more worth it.

It's generally pretty simple, actually, since the two sound very different. The HD650 is warm, enveloping, and somewhat bassy, but loses detail because it's more involving and less clinical in approach. The HD700, on the other hand, was built to be somewhat of a miniature HD800, and it much more detailed and flat. If you like a neutral, colder, and wider sound signature, the HD700 is for you. If you like a warmer, more intimate sound, the HD650 is a better choice.
