iBasso IT01 a fun IEM. Single multilayered graphene driver. !! 99 USD !!

I believe so. Back when I got them the brand name was known as Head-Direct. It has probably been almost 10 years since I bought those.

Yeah, good point. I’d say the mids and treble are more or less in line with each other. Maybe just a hair more emphasis on treble but barely worth mentioning. The mids are so clean and detailed, definitely their best trait. Hoping to find an iem with mids that are just as good with a neutral...

Yes, agreed. Nothing against these iems at all, they really are good. Just not in line with my taste. I think my friend will love them though. I knew I was taking a chance on them given their reviews. But I wasn’t quite prepared for how bass heavy they are. I think more reviewers should...

I tried several different tips and sources, same result with each. Out of the headphone jack or line out into my RSA Tomahawk. It's just the way they're tuned. Too much towards the low end. I'm not a burn in believer, personally. Never heard it change a headphone, despite owning dozens of new...

iBasso IT01 a fun IEM. Single multilayered graphene driver. !! 99 USD !!

I decided to give my IT01 to a friend as a gift. They just weren't for me. Though I did love everything about them except the bass, it was just too much and distracted heavily from the rest of the spectrum. Does anyone know of a more analytical IEM similar to the IT01? Not opposed to spending...

Stay away from the SE215, unless you can try them locally before you buy. I used to have a pair but gave them away to my friend. They are very veiled and soft in the treble and mids. The IT01 are far superior, actually. I don't have them with me to A/B unfortunately. The only good thing about...

Mids- Clear, uncolored, but ever so slightly recessed. VERY detailed for a single dynamic. Highs- A bit forward but not grainy or sibilant. Pretty much just right. Lows- Elevated, goes very deep. Sounds to me like you have a subwoofer that's turned up just a hair too much (in my opinion). This...

Fellow burn-in denier here. The cables aren't heavy at all. They are flexible and light, like a piece of string.

I have been putting them in slowly, and pulling my earlobe as I usually do. Slowly seems to be the key to avoiding the driver movement. As far as burn in, mine only have a few hours on them. I've never been much of a proponent of headphone burn in. I've owned dozens of headphones and iems and...

I think my two complaints are valid- Even after tip rolling, too much bass for me, and the driver flex (crinkling noise) when inserting them is concerning.

This is the answer. I tried the smallest silicone tips that came with the UE TF10 and they work great. Nowhere near the amount of bass boost as the stock tips. That's just an early impression, but I'll keep listening.

I'll let them burn in for a while and will try different tips as well. I have a tin filled with hundreds of IEM tips, should be able to find something that works.

Just got these yesterday. I like the sound overall but a little too bassy for my particular taste. On recordings without enough bass it's perfect, but with bass heavy recordings it's just way too much and is distracting. The detail and soundstage is really impressive though. They honestly sound...

The O2 and K612 work fine together. Nothing cold or analytical about it.

After spending many months with the k612, I still prefer my k601 w/ 702 pads.   My setups are as follows: k601 with foam rings removed and k702 pads. k601 with foam pads removed. I feel these setups bring out the absolute best in each headphone.   The k612 is definitely a fine headphone for...

The Ear Pads Thread (post questions or say what ear pads worked for you)

I might have to try this. I have the leather and velour Brainwavz pads but haven't found any headphones they actually sound good on. Maybe they will work on my dt880.

Are the ebay pads on the left or right? I have always wondered how they compared to the 701/702 angled pads.

The Ear Pads Thread (post questions or say what ear pads worked for you)

I will often use a bit of closed-cell foam (found in packaging materials, for example) and make a 1/4" ring spacer for pads. I have done this for Shure pads and a bunch of others.   This will help space the pad further away from the driver, but might not eliminate touching entirely depending...

That's possible, but I think it increases the midrange just as much as the treble so you should be OK. That held true for my 601 and 702. Can't comment on the 612 since mine hasn't arrived yet.

Yep, that's the one. Here it is: http://cdn.head-fi.org/a/ad/ad0b70a3_q701innerfoam.jpeg   It's not attached in any way. It's held in place by the pad.

Mine had the rings. And I agree, removing them opened up the sound a lot.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the k601 w/ k70X pads. A great combo.   As for the bass, it's definitely not a bassy headphone. I'd say it very accurately conveys the content of the recording without adding or taking anything away. If anything I might say it's a bit bass-light in...

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

I have a couple detailed write-ups in this thread. Search for them for more info.   But the basics: larger/more realistic soundstage, more space between instruments (better separation) and more even frequency response. This includes extended treble, especially if you don't use the foam ring...

I'm assuming you were thinking about the k601 but are now doubting it?   I'd encourage you to try the k601 and use the pads from your Q701 on them. The k601 with stock pads is unremarkable (my opinion) but becomes a completely new headphone with the AKG angled pads. And you can make the treble...

Everything is subjective in this hobby, for sure. For me it's what makes the 601 a giant killer.
