Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP
The only "apps" are built in. This isn't Android, so you can't select apps to open. Any features are built into the menu structure and are always there. If you don't want to use any of the features, you can just ignore them in the menus.- sharkz

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP
I really don't want to go the battery route, I guess I will have to look at turning the screen off to see if that helps at all. If not, back to my Shanling M5 as a transport. It's just so hard to go back to a non touch screen...- sharkz

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP
Is anyone else having battery life issues while using their R3 as a digital transport to a DAC? Granted I have the screen set to stay on, but I'm getting about 2.5-3 hours before running the battery out right now as a transport, which seems really low.- sharkz

Upgrade Turntable Cartridge
It was suggested earlier but I would definitively recommend checking out AudioKarma. That group has a huge knowledge base and sometimes it won't be necessary to totally break the bank to get a big upgrade.- sharkz

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP
So I finally got a new DAC and my R3 outouts with no issues. No idea why it works for a Modi Multibit but not a Bifrost. Quick question, is there a setting I’ve missed that keeps the screen on for more than 30 seconds? I like it on when using it as a transport.- sharkz

Joe thanks for the reply. I just tried a few standard cables I have lying around and no change. Also, only the USB C OTG cable is plugged into the R3. I don't know if its a cable problem or issue that my Bifrost doesn't like the input, however that is my only USB capable DAC I have lying around...- sharkz

Can anyone do me a favor and show which cables they are using to connect their R3 to a USB DAC? Really would like to get this working with my desktop setup. Thanks!- sharkz

Can someone post the USB cable they are using to output to an external DAC? Trying to figure this out without cycling through an unnecessary amount of cables.- sharkz

That case looks like a nice option in between the full leather case and the simple plastic case. Although to be honest, I prefer the simple case in most cases because I feel like the leather case forces my finger to skip songs when I am trying to hit the play/pause button or screen power button...- sharkz

So still having issues connecting to my DAC. I bought a USB-C OTG cable connected to an Audioquest USB cable (coincidentally my only fairly nice audio cable) and still no luck getting anything from the R3 to my DAC. Am I missing something obvious?- sharkz

This is the cable, simple $6 amazon one. I assumed this will work but I guess I'm going to have to grab a cheap USB-C OTG cable as well.- sharkz

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP
That isn't exactly what I want to do though. I don't want to pull from another source, I want the R3 to be the source as a transport. I've seen the part about digital Coax out, but that's for feeding something like a Mojo that has that input. I just want to output the USB signal to a USB DAC.- sharkz

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP
Question for the experts. Is it possible to output a digital signal to an outboard DAC via the USB-C port? I had assumed it was possible and bought a USB-C to USB-B plug to plug into my Schiit Bifrost but haven't been able to get any sound. Am I missing something in settings for is this not...- sharkz

R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby
Thanks for the information. I think I'm just holding off to find the right used one at which point I can sell my R3 Pro. What can I say, I'm cheap and have way too many expensive hobbies right now...- sharkz

R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby
Sorry for the confusion. Yes, the R3 Pro is a much smaller/lighter player than the R5. In many cases I prefer the larger player since "portability" isn't a huge concern for me since the player gets tossed into my bag and basically never into my pocket. And as much as I love the R3 Pro and it's...- sharkz

R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby
I'm really on the fence with the R5. I picked up an R3 Pro a few weeks ago which I love and I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I really prefer the more solid feeling larger form factor. I guess I'm going to have to dwell on this a bit and see if I want to pick up a new R5 with the lower...- sharkz

Mine left NJ yesterday as well and I have a receipt date of the 20th. For these to go 40 miles within NJ... I find it humorous something can travel several thousand miles in the same time frame the same object can only go a few dozen miles.- sharkz

I got my shipping notification last night, but Fedex still hasn't updated it. Based on my past experiences with Fedex tracking numbers, the package will show up one day and the number will update a few days later. Especially since I am less than 40 miles from the MD warehouse. Still holding out...- sharkz

I'm involved with most of these things as well. And expensive sports like skiing and hockey. Does buying a house count as a hobby? I just bought one of those, I'm pretty sure it's going to bankrupt me sooner than later.- sharkz
