    Q701 impressions thread

I'm ready to be burned at the stake right now.     Burn in isn't real.  The only thing that you can burn in is your ear pads.  Them softening and moving the driver's distance to your ears is what changes the sounds in headphones. So the best way to "burn in" a pair of headphones is to wear...

Q701's for $250 can put an end to my spending habits.  These headphones are all I will ever need.  My sound preferences personified in headphone form.  They amaze me every time I listen to them.

    Headphones for gaming please?

AKG q701's offer all the positional audio of the AD700's but are better in every way.  Better driver speed, more bass (ad700's are bass light q701's are perfect IMO), better instrument/sound seperation, and they are by far more detailed.     They are the AD700's on steroids, and they are in...

    A new reference from AKG?

Quote: The Q701 is one of the best headphones you can buy for $250.  I find it hard to believe that any headphone over $500 could sound justifiably better for the price.

Still loving the Q701' for Metal.     You can actually understand what the singers are screaming with these things, and you an pick minute details out of the chaos.  Amazing cans, and they are an absolute steal for $250.  By far the best at that price you can obtain.

Quote: I had an auzentech xfi prelude which was a very high end soundcard, and the hrt music streamer II+ is hands down better in every way.  It made that $200 internal soundcard sound like a realtek onboard soundcard in comparison.

    Lets Talk Metal

Quote: Yeah I definitely noticed some moments where they start channeling opeth.  It's interesting and doesn't seem out of place at all.  D. Randall Blythe's mixing his old higher pitched screams from new american gospel also adds a lot to the album.     Say what you want about lamb...

    Lets Talk Metal

Nobody discussing the new Lamb of God album?     Some of the songs sound like a totally different band.  Not in a bad way necessarily.  I do think this album is much better than wrath, but not as good as Ashes of the Wake.

    AKG Q701 for metal?

Q701's are great for metal.  I'm of the opinion that they are so revealing that every single one of us has a totally different experience.  Using the HRT Music Streamer II+ and FiiO e9 my q701's sound superb.  They have great bass, and the mid bass is just insane.  Once the toms start in a song...

    Questions regarding AD700's G35's

You need to get used to them for one thing.  Their soundstage is totally different than the G35's which your brain is wired for.  Once you get used to the AD700's you'll appreciate the improved sound, and get used to how they present positional audio to your brain.

I've been gaming in stereo ever since I ditched my razer barracuda for AD700's almost 3 years ago.  I have never experienced a hard pan in any game in 3 years time.  People are either using horrible headphones, or inferior DAC/soundcards.     I play PC games and my HRT Music Streamer II+ >...

To me the AKG Q701's are the AD700's with better driver speed, better seperation, and a more full lower end.  Many people report they have more bass than the K701's, but I can't confirm that because I've never heard them.     All I know is that these things are midbass monsters.  The midbass...

Just got my q701's today.  Loving them so far.  Am I the only person who loves these for metal?     Pantera - 13 steps to nowhere sounds amazing.  The drums in the beginning just move all around your head.

One thing I notice about the q701's is that I can tell UP and Down much better than I could with AD700's.     This is all stereo by the way, no mixamp involved.  It's not necessary with these at all.    If you even remotely like the AD700's this is the only logical upgrade from there...

Just got a pair of Q701's today.  Immediate impression are that they are basically the ad700's but better in every way.     Driver speed seems a slight step behind my Ortho's.  These things have amazing midbass compared to the AD700's.  Instrument separation is far better on the Q701's.  Sub...

Best Drummer's All Time, Past, Present: Let the Beat's Begin!

I'm not sure what genre meshuggah is in.  They are heavy, but no one else can duplicate their unique music.  It's kind of overwhelming to listen to at times because you can easily get lost listening to certain instruments.

Best Drummer's All Time, Past, Present: Let the Beat's Begin!

Tomas Haake is absolutely ridiculous.  Any drummer that can play beats that are nigh impossible for someone to tap along to and still remain musical gets my respect.  Meshuggah uses the weirdest time signatures, and he never misses a beat.

Quote: I for one though that removing the stock damping from the back of the drivers and doing the transpore/micropore pattern ruined the sound, so I just covered the backs with micropore because it was similar to the stock damping.
