I've been hearing alot, from alot of people about the Zune running Linux, almost bug free. Microsoft has supposedly hired some 30 hackers to attempt to run linux bug free, and that thier next goal is XP, which will only require a minor processing upgrade. If they follow thier projected schedule, they should have XP running on it by next summer. I mean the Zune and the iPhone are two totally different products aimed at two totally different markets.

The Zune is a DAP (although it also plays music) that is aimed at people that will want something like that - something that can hold 30Gb of music, video, photos and take it with them.

The iPhone is a phone/iPod crossover. If the Zune was a 8Gb flash player then I'd say yeah - the iPhone will have some impact on it for some people.

But what about all those people that want just a music player and not all the extra phone stuff - they'd prefer the Nano.

The only Apple product that goes up against the Zune is the iPod.

They have been giving dev's Zune's to come up with a functioning Firmware based under Linux.

And the iPhone will pwn nothing. Have you considered that for the price of the iPhone, you can buy a car. It provides nothing new to the genre what so ever.

Most ppl don't want a cell phone/mp3 player/ camera. They want a cell phone, and mp3 player, and a camera.

The only thing the Iphone will be pwning are the wallets fo the suckers who fall for the marketing.

nope, they did the same thing with xbox, i think it was something like $10,000 for the first person to get linux running bug free on xbox, which led to a mod frenzy on xbox. ive seen some pretty crazy stuff on xbox's with linux, and im not gonna underestimate what zune can do.

hahaha, what a load of crap. the linux hoax has yet to be confirmed at all and was (by most accounts) just a ploy to get hits on the site. you seem to have just pulled the windows xp/vista bit out of your bum and microsoft hiring hackers to run linux is a complete joke.

It's amazing that one could put judgement on any dap/product by simply saying this and that. It is always best to actually have them in hand and put them on trial before making judgements. My 2 cents

If linux was on a zune, I would buy one tomorrow. I know for a fact there are more people like me, perhaps not a huge market, but a market nonetheless.
