Zune battery life

I'm kind of surprised that folks get to sit with their Zunes plugged in for 9+ hours solid a day.

Dont you have something else to do or friends to talk to etc.?

I just use it here and there in the day then it gets plonked in the dock to recharge at the end of the day. Never goes flat.

Ricardo,

How long does your Zune 80 last? And what sort of bitrate do you use?

Like 18 hours. 20 hours in a good runtime.

My bitrates are all over the place. 160kbps, 192kbps, 256kbps, 320 kbps and a few albums in WMA Lossless (the lossless tracks dont last over 6 minutes)

Nobody here apart from you said anything about listening for 9 hours solid a day, doing nothing and not talking to anyone.

Wow.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the PC power supply causing the USB port to be underpowered.

That's how I read it at first too. Do you mean it lasts 9 hours in general, including "sleep/shutdown" time? I'm still mildly lost, but I'm also tired as hell today.

In any case, mine seems to last longer from a full charge, but I don't have a specific number for anyone. I can easily use it two to three days in a row before I have to charge it overnight. I only set it to sleep mode when it's not in use, with about 3-4 hours usage each day (on average). My bit rates are all over the place as well, but mostly at the 320kbps mark (some going as low as 192, others being Lossless).

My Zune 80 is a little over a year old, it gets probably around 15 hours. I generally listen at 10 or lower, but I've gone on sprees listening at 20 and it hasn't had too much impact on life. Mine gets charged about two or three times a week.

My music files are mostly 128kbps (when I used the iTunes library), but now a lot are WMA lossless or up to 320.

My lossless songs never verge ten minutes, all staying under 7. Though, I have a lot of songs hitting 15 minutes, with a large portion of my library songs 20+ minutes, the longest two clocking in around 45 minutes.

I keep mine digitally and hard-locked, not sure if that makes a difference.
