Team Mid-Fi
We're Mid-Fi, and we're happy where we are!
Why go higher than the HD-595, the SR-225, the K240, the DT770, when the prices here are so low, and the returns so high? Burn-in is subjective, and it is certainly not science. The headphone output on my receiver is plenty good, thanks, and I'm sure not spending another $200 on an amplifier. ABX testing is effective. $150 for a cable? Are you insane, or simply kidding me?
The above are examples of the Mid-Fi ideology. We definitely want high quality audio, but we also don't want to spent our life savings on audio. We trust logic and science just as much as we trust our subjective minds, which often try to justify purchases by making us think that something new sounds better than something old. No "upgradeitis"; we don't really want to go any higher than where we are, because where we are is the sweet spot. To summarize:
Mid-Fi is on a certain budget.
Mid-Fi is objective, not just subjective.
Mid-Fi is pleased with what Mid-Fi has.
