ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Sep 7, 2022 at 5:41 PM Post #2,821 of 6,252
Been a slow lazy day working from home, which was mostly spent going back and forth with my Atrium and Ori. The Atrium rocks, we all know that. But man the Ori is also so so good. Crazy how much Zach was able to get out of those Fostex drivers. This track really shows off both set's bass abilities. That bass kick is strong!

I swear I've listened to that song a dozen or more times today just for that opening bass.

Has anyone tried the Atriums on Ferrum's Oor amp?

I’m going to try that as well. I was listening to my HE1000s today after a few weeks with only the Atrium and that did make me realize how dark the Atriums are by comparison.
This doesn't surprise... the HEKse was the first Planar to start giving a bit of that ethereal E-Stat sound. So clear and highly resolving. Now there are a bunch of TOTL Planars with a similar type of tuning to the HEK. Which version do you have?

V2. I don’t find them overly bright. It’s a different cup of tea from the Atriums, that’s for sure.

Yes, i mainly drive atrium with ferrum stack and it sounds great for me. Dac is chord qutest. 22.4v.

Ferrum stack has better synergy with atrium than with VC.
I'll second that. I'm still running the standard 24V though.

VC sounds like a different beast on OTL but unfortunately I have very little time running Atrium on my OTL due to excessive heat this summer . Based this very limited listening time on OTL+Atrium though, I'm liking how it handles the sub bass vs the Ferrum stack. It is 80%-90% more accentuated compared to the Ferrum stack.

Thanks for the reply. Qutest is my dac too, so it'd be incredibly similar to what you're hearing I'd think. Good to know about it being better for Atriums than VC - I actually just got one of the stabilized VC, but am thinking about getting an Atrium at some point. Appreciate your thoughts!

Ok, thank you! I own the Oor (w/ Hypsos) but I'm now looking into getting an OTL now that I've got a stabilized VC coming.

Oh my. First congratz on your stabilized VC and I think you're in a for a treat pairing it with an OTL. I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard it with an OTL. truly a next level stuff.

I thought so too! Patiently waiting for them to come in...
Key word Patiently. Makes me think of Princess Bride... "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Now prepare to die". "Will you hurry up?", "I am climbing a mountain you are just going to have to wait". "I hate waiting".

I hate waiting too...:)

Beautiful VCs. Congrats and I hope the wait goes by quickly.
