Ok, went back to radial mesh. Solid mesh lost all harshness in certain offending tracks but I felt it lost some excitement. It was a more polite version. It did not sound overall dark or anything with solid mesh ... just seemed to tame the peaks a bit.
Hmmm. I’m using the Auteur Hybrid Pref. So your saying solid Aeteur leather? How would the sound change? Solid Eikon hybrids sounded horrible to me … thanks

I'll test out a Artctic Magnus (copper) in a few days vs the Lavricable Grand (silver) cable I am using now ...
If you're looking to tame the highs a bit without losing too much of their excitement, I would definitely recommend giving the Verite Be² Suede (perforated) pads a go with the stock vented mesh. They do this exceptionally well in comparison to the stock leather perforated Atrium pads.
Treble response on ZMFs varies a lot by pad compression too, if yours don’t have a lot of clamp reassure you could try experimenting a bit. Put a little more pressure with your hands as you listen, and if you like the sound better add a bit of clamp by bending the headband. I’ve found more clamp = less peaky treble, potentially at the expense of some soundstage (conversely if you feel your atrium is too dark and missing some air, you might want to try loosening the clamp up a bit)

Here ya go. I got these as my 2nd pair and super glad I did. The lows really come out a lot more, while the peaky highs are tamed but the sparkle of the highs are not lost. It's a great set of pads on the Atrium imo.
Finally got around to pad rolling today with my Atrium.
Here is my listening chain: Bluesound Node 2i > Chord Hugo M Scaler > Chord Hugo TT2 > Ferrum Orr + Hypsos > ZMF Atrium KOA with Norne Drausk cable
The pads I have are: Stock Universe Leather, BE2 Suede, Auteur Hybrid. Of course, all perforated.
Since I received the Atrium, I burned in and listened to them with the Universe Leather pads. This is the sound that I imprinted on. To me, this is what the stock Atrium sound is now. It is to me fairly neutral and sounds great on every source. When I rolled to the BE2 Suede, the soundstage became much more intimate and the bass response became very large. I like this sound, but I would say it is my 3rd favorite of the 3 pads. I will roll to these pads when I want to get into bassy listening mode.
Then, I rolled to the Auteur Hybrid. The sound stage got a lot taller. Bass became deeper and more extended relative to the leather pads and given the much more open sound, the reverb in the mids is much more prominent. This is by far my favorite sound. First of 3. When I rolled back to the stock leather pads, the sound is much more neutral in relation to the Auteur Hybrid sound. The Universe leather pads are my 2nd favorite pads.
Favorite Pads for Atrium: Auteur Hybrid.
I may end up buying the Universe Suede and Auteur Suede to hear how they sound. Universe Suede is my favorite pads for my Verite Closed headphones.
