I recently swapped to the Acoustic Titan Mesh on a pair of 2019 Blackwoods and felt the same about the treble energy. To my ears there is definitely slightly more treble energy with the Titan mesh compared to the older bop mesh. I find that to be positive overall as I usually run the OG Aeolus pads which are warmer than the Universe pads. The newer Titan mesh has good synergy with the OG Aeolus pads.
Attributed this mainly to the central direct-to-my-ear holes in the Titan mesh vs. no holes in the bopp mesh even if they measure the same overall.
In the process I also noticed a subtle change in the newer model baffles vs the older model baffles
- newer models have 3 holes in the baffle (2022 Canary)
- older models have 2 holes in the baffle (2019 African Blackwood)
As I was comparing the two Aeolus to each other I emailed @zach915m about the change and he had the following response
We changed the amount of Baffle holes when we switched from using the OG aeolus pads to the current Universe pads. If you recall, we used to use Aeolus pads as the stock pad on the aeolus, and now Universe. So it was to accommodate the airflow change when we changed stock pads.
So if using the same pad there might be a slight difference, but that other version may also have the Aeolus pads, in which case the current pads will sound different.
