As for The Stone Roses and Ride, those would be my picks as well.

Wilco? .. "She's a Jar"

you know, i put shellshock in the list on a whim. age of consent is my most listened to new order track, and PCL is probably my favorite album, though technique holds a special place as well. i first noticed shellshock on substance a week or so ago, and was really grooving to the dancey beats. wilco...i actually only have YHF, so i'm not at all familiar with the rest of their work, but i do really like that track, so i figured it deserved a spot.

glad to see i've got someone mostly in agreement with my choices, though

edit: i should add that peter hook's little bass solo starting at the 2 minute mark in age of consent is one of my favorite moments in N.O.'s catalog...i just love his bass lines.

The range of music mentioned in threads like this and "What Are You Listening To Right Now? [#6]" takes my breath away.

In one post we have two punk classics by a brilliant proto-Deadboys aggregation, Rocket From the Tombs. Followed in the very next post by a stirring American Songbook performance by the goddess Eva Cassidy.

However much people on this site (including me) may obsess, agonize and drool over equipment, obviously the point for most of us is the music. And that's as it should be, in my opinion.

Movement never gets any love, even from die hard New Order fans, i tells ya!

it's always PC&L, Technique, and Low-Life that gets all the attention, but to me Movement is the most fascinating record in their discography, a brilliant midpoint between Joy Division and the later New Order we all know and love. imagine if there was a remastered reissue with all the 1980-1981 singles and b-sides tacked on? brilliant stuff.

anyhoo.. i chose "Chosen Time" in my list because it's my fave song off Movement, but i would've chosen "Everything's Gone Green" as my fave New Order song. "Shellshock" is great though (another New Order song that's typically swept aside), much better than "State of the Nation" IMO.

and yeah... "Dreams Burn Down" is the best Ride song ever!

EDIT: oh i forgot... ABBA is great. i listen to Gold at work all the time... nobody does pure pop as good as ABBA. all these pop divas in the charts these days can't compare to the Swedish foursome.

x2
Personaly, the technique must to allow to obtain the best result. No more and no less. It must to be in the service of the musical emotion.
The MUSIC : that's right the main part.

Greetings
