Your Reference CD's?

Currently I'm using:

• Mahler's 3rd Symphony on EMI, Rattle/Birmingham Symphony (all around testing).
• Kodo, Mondo Head (drums! for bass)
• Varttina, Seleniko (female vocals)
• Gong and Klang (private release by a friend of mine, for soundstaging. It was recorded with just a couple of mics in a small studio and sounds incredibly intimate and precise)

Up Close 21, issued by Boston Acoustics (the speaker manufacturer) and Windham Hill. This CD featured the late Michael Manring. Amazing acoutic guitar playing.

Yes, there are other Up Close CDs from Boston Acoustics. But I only have this one and another one featuring Clair Marlo (Up Close 2).

for me, nothing terribly high class. I just stick to CDs that I know really well.

Massive Attack - Protection (for female vocals and bass)
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream (for guitars, and how well the gear can handle lots of noise)
The Police - EBYT: the classics SACD (instruments, vocals, and just good songs

Elvis Costello - Imperial Bedroom
Dave Matthews Band - Crash
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
The Beatles - Revolver

These are the ones that I use the most, as they are both technically very well crafted AND I know them very well.
