YOUR IDEAL HEADPHONE: What is yours if you could take one and tailor it to you?

Comfort of my HD650's.  Haven't touched a set of headphones that come close in terms of lightness and comfort.

Mids, bass, and speed of an ortho, and soundstage of the HD800's.

My 650's are nearly there.  I just need a "little" more.  But I guess that's how it always goes.  There's always more.

I've been demoing the Sennheiser HD700s and Audeze LCD-Xs. So I would want the comfort , feel and soundstage of the HD700s, midrange of my HD600s and th sweet treble of the LCD-Xs. Bass would be a toss up between the LCDs and 700s.

the 700 bass is that good?! how is the treble compared to the hd650 and what is the midrange like. I know this is off topic but still that has to be the most overlooked hp around. I wonder if thats closer to my ideal hp.. time to research

Koss HV/1 with a better headband and straight cable.

Hifiman HE-300 and Koss PRODJ200 made with better materials.

Everything of a Dt880 with the mids of an HD650 and soundstage of Sony Ma900.. That would be simply perfect.

  DT770 (250)

1)Same comfort and build
2)Without THD
3)Without the recessed mids
4)More controlled sub-bass .........For a ideal closed

Is there some sort of dampening scheme that would help with those issues? Worth looking into.

I guess you could , some people remove the paper part surrounding the driver against the cup , they say that's how the 880s shipped stock , still have to do more research
As far as harmonic distortion goes , I think that's just the driver so damping might not help , although I could be terribly wrong

It sounds to me as if this is really worth looking into because you're satisfied with DT770 and have a chance to significantly improve it. The Fostex modders might know more about the effects of dampening on distortion.
