Here are my first headphones that surprised me how good it can sound: Koss Porta Pro (8 years ago).

Really first were some PAN-AM (after flight throw away) headphones I got as present from old friend. - thanx to him for starting this way of still-better 'phones searching! It's so fine...

Only my credit suffers.. Ha!

Bye ... and nice weekend!!!!

ahh, the HD414's! I have a pair of those currently on loan...

Well, for me, it was the sportapro. after weeks of arguing with the guys at headwize more than a year ago, I decided I had to listen to them. I bought the sportas, and was amazed. After them it was the KSC-35's, then the Grado SR80's, and now the K401's. Life is good.

well..... 2 years ago i bought the Koss TD/65 on a whim and was completely blown away. I had never experienced music so intimately before. Last June I took the plunge and spent some "real" money on cans and got my beloved Beyer DT250's. Now I can't even listen to my Koss.... the bass is unbelievably muddy, it drowns out all the other sound. What was I thinking?

My first pair of good 'phones were (as for many others) Grado SR80s. Then I went to the SR325s before settling in with the CD3ks.

Before I got the SR80s my primary 'phones were the dreadful Senn HD490s and before that I owned classics such as the Senn HD433s (they suck, a lot) and the Sony MDR-CD300 (yeah, they suck).

Well, I actually had a pair of the older version of the Koss PortaPro when I was about 10 years old (as a gift from a relative to replace a set of broken ones from a Walkman) -- I just didn't appreciate them back then

13 years later I bought a pair of SR60, so I guess those were my first "I bought these because they're great" headphones.
