Imagine if they took out all the synth effects from that version of The Frail and just did it with the strings

Lang Langs performance of rachmaninoff's "rhapsodies on a theme of Paganini" takes you through every emotion as it envelops you in both the pathos of it's brilliant technical nature and the ethos of it's simple yet moving melody.

Nelson friere's version of debussy's "Claire de Lune" is by far the best and made me cry the first time I heard it.

Bill evan's first two tracks from his cd "alone" are incredible.

I'm seeing a lot of radiohead on this list. For some reason the song I always put on from them is "subterranean homesick alien." not any more brilliant or melodic than their other songs (almost all of which I love) but it just enthralls me and leaves me frozen long after I hear it.

Recently discovered:

Sway - Lostprophets

It's certainly one i've never heard recommended before, but i found it contains everything and breaks down into a kind of Massive Attack part in the middle, and excellent long song.

xx
