ZMF Verite Closed and still looking for the second, it's not yet in my collection but it will need to be a planar with great bass.

I actually think 2 are probably max headphones anyone needs. Currently mm-500 for electronic music and Atriums for instruments, though I don't listen to Atriums much and people are getting overly excited over them.

Out of what i have i tend to listen to two. Lcd-x for open back. Aeon x for closed back. Anything else I'd want would end up taking the place of either of those, but im pretty happy.
I would give consideration to just one of those pairs and my galaxy buds 2 as my two.

haha doesn't count unless it's at least $1000!
I always feel sad to the other hp's I own whenever I get new pair, like I want to tell them "sorry for not listening to all you at the same time" haha^^ Fine, two are baseline; twenty-two are comparative!

You could always try this out if it really gets to you.

I have the privilege of being able to keep five good sounding headphones, which address different use cases:
Meze 109 Pro: gets the most listening time. Most comfortable and enjoyable open sound stage. The sound profile suits my old ears perfectly.
Fostex T50RP modded: I use a long cord for listening to the TV through my Onkyo 9110
Oppo PM3: my wife likes these for bedtime and listening to her iPad
Audeze LCD-XC (2019): for serious listening in my recliner (still my reference phones). Well balanced closed phones.
Elegias with Stellia pads: listening in bed, or on my iPad. Closed, somewhat “cupped” sound

Utopia and HD6xx.
Would swap HD6xx to HE500 if it did not weight a ton or units were not ancient.

This is harder than picking one set of desert island headphones (Sennheiser HD471). I have use cases... and and... needs.
Uhm.
I can do three but not two: KPH30i, k240 mkII, DT 770 80 ohm.

This is tough!
Choosing from what I own, I would say Focal Clear for critical listening and Focal Bathys for anything else, as I use them for gaming as well.
