I'm on the verge of purchasing a new pair of headphones...but for the life of me I am not able to decide.

I've spent quite a few hours researching a few headphones that will be used for an all around experience. I'm a fan of a lot of music, Rock, some Classical, Rap/Hip Hop, Electronic, Blues..Jazz..instrumentals..etc.

I do a lot of gaming and movie watching. These will be used with an Astro MixAmp, without an amplifier, because I don't feel like spending 300.00 GBP or more on audio.

I'm not a basshead by any means, but I like a decent amount of bass, so that some genres aren't lacking in their presentation.

I have ruled out the DT770 250 Ohm, DT880 250 Ohm and the DT990 Ohm pairs because they require an amplifier for my use, and the Premiums that are below 250 Ohm because of their price.

These are the headphones that seem like they would be good for my needs:

Beyerdynamic DT770 80Ohm Pro - I've heard these are good for gaming, because of their bass response and their above average soundstage and performance for a pair of closed headphones. However, I have also heard I'd be better off buying an Open pair of headphones because of the better soundstage performance.

Sennheiser HD598 - I've read many topics regarding these headphones and they seem to be incredibly popular. Great soundstage including great sound quality, although a bit lacking in bass. My issue with these is their look. I'm not a fan of the colors at all, it doesn't look 'ugly' necessarily, just not that nice.

Sennheiser HD558 - Apparently very similar to the 598's, but have less of a soundstage. I much prefer the look of these compared to the 598's, but I'm wondering if the 598's are that much better for gaming for me to get used to their looks. Is the soundstage difference very noticeable?

Philips Fidelio X1 - From what I've read, they are good 'all rounders'. They have the soundstage you want, a decent amount of bass for open headphones and aren't much more expensive than the 598's. They look nice to me, nicer than the 598's anyway.

If I had to choose to buy one pair right now, it would be between the Fidelio X1's and the HD598's.

Which should I get? Are the X1's good for gaming and movies or are the 598's better because of their soundstage (or is the soundstage more or less the same?) What about comfort? Sound quality..? I've looked at a few topics comparing them but none were conclusive enough.

I really don't know which to buy. If I was to get the Philip's or 598's I would probably get the 770's later for movie watching.
