I know, but thats all I can do for now .. there is no way for me to test those cans out before I can buy them. I am out in the boonies in Washington State, USA, there are no hi-fi stereo stores around for me to go and try some out.

I might, MIGHT get lucky and find some of them in Seattle, WA, USA.

Anyone in the Seattle area know where I can find a hi-fi stereo store?

X-fi, XtremeMusic or XtremeGamer/Fal1ty?

the xtrememusic is good enough. i believe they use the sam op-amp and stuff? someone clarify, but i would just get the regular xtrememusic (or was it xtremeaudio?)

The XtremeMusic and upward have the same DAC until you get to the very best X-Fi, the Elite Pro. The XtremeAudio and XtremeGamer are new cards in the lineup, with the XtremeAudio being a stripped-down version of the XtremeMusic and the XtremeGamer not really being a X-Fi at all (totally different and inferior setup), if I remember correctly.

I am torn between X-Fi XtremeMusic & Platinum .. maybe Fatal1ty.

Platinum/fatality is really nice because it gives you quite a few input/output options with the front panel. digital coax in/out, optical in/out, analong RCA input, headphones jack, mic jack, midi in/outs... it's nice

The fatality is the same but it has the XRam which is used in only a few brand new games so far..

I think I'll go with Platinum, thanks

I believe 7.1 is inferior to 5.1.

So what about the newly upgraded M-Audio Revolution 5.1 then lol?

I meant the M-audio card, not the format

I read good things about the 5.1, it's also supposed to have a decent dedicated headamp.

Oh haha yeah, Sorry, I had some idea that you wanted a 7.1 card to begin with. I also heard that the latest revo 5.1 is superior to the old 7.1 - dif opamps iirc. Not sure why M-audio did that to be honest
