Yenona Adapter-Free DJ Headphones

Ok, I caved in and ordered a pair from Aliexpress. Hopefully they'll arrive before Christmas
wink.gif

I've got pretty much all kinds of the HM5 pads as well as Alpha pads, Hifiman pads and a lot of cheap ebay pads as well so expect some pad rolling when I get them.

Somehow I missed this post. I think you're talking about ordering Yenona's (?) ... correct me if wrong. Hopefully you've gotten them by now.

Regarding pad rolling, I've thought about it, but every time I put them on my head, the thought leaves my mind. They sound really good and feel very comfortable. There's none of that panicky "I gotta change these pads!" feeling due to poor comfort or sound. None. I think the original pads, apart from being just a little too soft, are way above average for el cheapo headphone stock pads. Tried to buy a couple pairs of the pads from Yenona, but they never responded to my email.

I am curious as to how angled pads would make them sound. The only problem w/that is the angled pleather pads of my favorite pad mfr, Brainwavz, are probably too narrow for the Yenona's: they're 110mm long (OK, since the Yenona's are ~3.9" - 4.0" = ~100mm); but they're only 80mm wide, just 3.14". Not wide enough.

True, other good angled pads are out there (Alpha Pads, Omni's, and so on), but they really cost. And to satisfy what's basically an idle curiosity, spending equal to or more what it cost to buy the Yenona's in the 1st place just seems unpalatable.

So if your pad rolling includes angled pleather pads, I'd be very interested to hear how they compare to the originals.

Yeah, I should get my pair early next week. For me pad rolling is like tip rolling on IEM's: a lot of fun and making sure you get the best out of them both in comfort and sq.

I agree the spending $60 on pads for a $35 headphone doesn't make sense but if I've got the pads already I think why not test them

Unfortunately I do not have the angled HM5 pleather pads but I do have the Alpha pads that should behave pretty similar.

If the stock pads sounds and feels good pad rolling will not be my top priority though.

Great catch!

This is obviously the same headphone as the "Yenona Adapter Free DJ Headphone." In fact, it has the color scheme (white stiching on earpads) that Yenona offers & I wanted when I first ordered these--but found both times I ordered the Yenona, that only the "other" color scheme is available in the states (no white stitching).

Only fly-in-the-ointment is the Yenona's can be gotten for $20 less on Amazon, and the shipping time will be 1/3 that of this website.

Yeah, I think I will be ordering from Aliexpress since I live in a non-Amazon country.
Here, there's an agreement between postal service and Aliexpress so I can get them faster than other options.

That's the current real deal right ? It's from the "Yenona Store"

That's a terrific deal. And it's not a rebranded Yenona--it's the real thing. Best of all worlds...

Hope you get the Yenona variant w/white stitching. I've concluded you can't get that color scheme in the states. Best part of that color scheme is (I believe) the supplied cable isn't maroon color, like the one I got (it looks like a Twizzler). Not that I ever used the supplied cable...I didn't, 'cause I have better aftermarket options. But still, if you want to use the supplied cable, better to have black than maroon IMO.

still looking forward to find out how they sound as bluetooth compared to these two. The hm5 pads 22.5$, yenona dj 33$

Did you get your Yenonas ? How do they compare to the Takstar 5500 ? I'm very fond of Takstar, wouldn't mind adding another to the lineup, but the Yenona's I can get for less money which is always a plus.
I'll be getting a BT 4.0 transmitter as well probably.

LoL the cable is already a no go for me, coil plus mic will serve as a good replacement for emergencies though. If any 3.5mm or 6.5mm will work then I already have more than enough to choose from. For extra protection probably a short 6.5mm to 3.5mm adapter plus a generic 3.5mm 1.8m extension is what I'm thinking.

I couldn't find the original Yenona cable if my life depended on it. Probably still in the box (wherever that is...).

FYI, several of us on this string have the Yenona's & found it best to plug the 6.5mm end of the cable into the 6.5mm jack on one earcup (the 3.5mm jack on the other earcup doesn't work well...my cable kept dropping right out of it).

I have several 6.5mm to 6.5mm & 6.5mm to 3.5mm cables, all 2M length. I use the 6.5mm & 6.5mm w/my Yenona's, since both of my daily use HP amps have 1/4" inputs.

Build quality it goes to the takstar hd5500, but otherwise I do not find them anything special. They need other pads and now 2+years later the original cable has developed static at the headphone end. A bit narrow sound.

The yenona has wider sound ( I find that important) comfy stock pads but build materials may be lower end.

I would not go for the hd5500 since there's many alternatives in the 40-60$ range.

For Bluetooth receiver I can recommend

I've never see any--beyond the specs you see on the seller's website, that is. Certainly no frequency response graphs or anything like that.

I found another headphone based on the same OEM, but this one rocks different pads and it's cheaper:

Obviously that's a great price--but the change in earpads is not so good IMO. The stock pads of the Yenona's were/are part of their success: very comfortable & deep (~1.3"), resulting in maximum comfort.

The only reason I swapped them w/HM5 extra thick pleather pads was my pair of Yenona's started sounding different after ~5 weeks of use, post-burnin (I had burned them in for >150 hrs). They became brighter (unacceptably so) and the bass got "boomier." Xtill can't figure out how that happened, but I dealt with it by replacing the pads & using several fabric inserts to tweak brightness.

Back to this new design: the pads look thinner and less comfortable than the HM5s (~1.1") or stock Yenona pads. If the earcups & drivers are the same as the Yenona's, it's hard to imagine these thinner pads will benefit the basic sound.

Just noticed another change in the design, and it's not so good, either: This "TWOM" headphone has what looks like a non-replaceable cable. The stock Yenona's had an unusual capability to receive either a 3.5mm cable jack (on base of one earcup) or a 6.35mm cable jack (base of the other earcup). That allowed me to use a quality 6.35mm-to-6.35mm aftermarket cable, an option that appears impossible in this new design.

All in all, I'd say pay the extra money for the real Yenona's: https://www.amazon.com/Yenona-Adapter-free-Headphones-Monitoring-Isolation/dp/B01B2L6Z54

I thought there was another Yenona clone floating around on aliexpress: just looked for it, couldn't find it. The original Yenona's have also gone missing on this website.

(that's my 2 cents)
