Does it open up and improve with burn in?

Yes give them a 150-200hrs min.

Thanks. I've whacked on some trance at high volume to start the burn in process. I'll listen to them again when the weekend is over

I don't think they change much myself. Depending what you are listening to and what your current HP's are it could come across as congested I suppose. I find the mids are reasonably forward, which I like for guitars especially....they throw them at you in a far more aggressive way than say the D2K I have (interesting for an open can). But at the same time I wouldn't call them congested....I'm sure this makes no sense but there you go :D

You can always EQ the mid bass down a little bit to get some extra clarity. I've been listening to my HPH200 with my Fiio E07k with bass EQ settings (-4) and I really liked what I've heard.

I like the quantity and quality the way it is. I can hear a slight bleeding into the mids though. I've heard this before on some my other cans which was sorted out after burning in. That's why I asked if these cans require burn in. Some cans have no effect after burning in like my orthos and all my BAs

I had a quick listen after about 12 hours. I think there's an improvement already.

I got them yesterday. I'm pretty happy atm after testing them for about an hour.

Comparing to my ASG 1.2 I would say the bass does not reach as low or with as much quantity, and the mids are better on the ASG, although I think the hph-200 has more obvious/better highs.
I would say the soundstage is wider with the HPH-200.
