I hope I didn't get fakes, I checked a real vs fake comparison from
http://en.miui.com/thread-154254-1-1.html
and my pair seems legit. I hear a liiitle bit of soundstage but the bass sounds lacking. Not sure if it's supposed to sound light on bass because I heard someone online complain that it has tons of bass
Thanks for the response, I feel a lot better about my pair being genuine now.
Now that I'm really listening to them, the bass is definitely there, but for me the bass sounds pretty light when I'm listening to music during car trips. When I'm in the house though, the bass is enough for me.
One thing I always thought was the fake manufacture is not going to have the tooling to make the thin lines around all the aluminum parts? Just a guess on my part. Turns out that the one link posted here to the fake Piston 3's actually shows small lines, but they are really far apart. On the edge of the control wand ( top photo) you can just see the lines put into the metal.

Nowadays china MFG they really learnt from smart and do more well of CQ as well, just the wires n sound of speaker may cheaper quality inside.
Ya collected the control would be hard for made it as nicer like original piston 3.
The treble is still killing me on these, the 4K region is awful I have to EQ down -10 dB or so with a wide Q, after mucking with the EQ for half a day I got it to sound much better, but still not good, still harsh and spiky when snares hit.
I don't know if it's the tips, my ears, bad pair, or combination of these factors, but no one else seems to be hearing these problems.
I don't have any other tips that fit the 3.5mm core so I can't try a different set.
Ordered the Rock Zircon a few days ago so I will compare... I like the bass on the pistons though and everything else, but something is really wrong between 3-6 kHz!
P.S. I got them from GearBest and scanned the QR code so they are legit.

I got mine from gearbest a couple weeks ago, and from what people have said about the sound of the authentic pair and the comparison I did between the real and fake pairs ( http://en.miui.com/thread-154254-1-1.html ), they're legit.
Ok.. so out of all the cheap budget iems/buds i have bought recently. These things are ridiculous for the price. In some ways i enjoy them more than my GR07. Getting pumped with some electro/dance, they are awesome! No doubt people have shared the same experience as myself. Such a good stocking stuffer or birthday buy.
